I'm David, welcome to my brain. Here I write to not only show that I can but to share my opinions on various topics. Mostly Video Games, Anime, Movies and Tokusatsu. Welcome back kids, time for the proper list. These are in my opinion the least liked to my personal favorite Kamen Rider Final Forms. We start with #16 and what I consider my least liked Final Form.
#16 Armed Hibiki
Now I'll just keep this short since I haven't seen Hibiki and from what I was able to see from reviews it could have been good. But of course no matter where you are in the world, almost anything that's aimed at kids and tries to push the envelope will eventually be ruined by Soccer Moms. I personally see this form as the culmination of bad management by Toei in the face of complaints about Hibiki the show and its lack of toy sales. The two original writers of Hibiki were given the boot and replaced with the Japanese Frank Miller himself Toshiki Inoue; and his asshole protege Shōji Yonemura, who you would have recognized having wrote the piece of crap called Kamen Rider Taisen.
So yeah Hibiki looks like a mess, and this form and its introduction highlight that mess, one of Inoue's tropes is that he hates writing episodes to just introduce more toys, so he barely puts any effort into establishing them and just basically says "here's some new hunk of plastic for you to buy see ya I'm off for lunch". Apparently this form was obtained from some dangerous training from a quack scientist that would either increase an Oni's (Hibiki's term for Riders) powers dramatically or cause them to lose their powers. Now admittedly that kind of does fit into the modus operandi and themes of Hibiki that everyday you are constantly improving yourself in someway and that even once you master something you never stop training. But that's definitely an all or nothing scenario and to me it smells like a way to drum up some quick drama.
Oh but that's not just me saying that, apparently most of the staff working on the show including Hibiki's actor flat out hated the changes enforced by Toei, and if that doesn't say how bad a show's gone down hill I don't know what does. Hibiki Armed From, the culmination of bad show handling and skewed priorities. Also we're not done with Inoue just yet kids, the next three entries on this list were series that Inoue was involved with (some more then others) and let me tell you; the way some of these forms were handled; it shows.
#15 Ryuki Survive
Now, let me make this perfectly clear, just because Ryuki Survive Form is so low on this list; it doesn't reflect my opinion on the show. I say that because some people consider Ryuki to be one of the absolute worst Rider series. And I honestly don't see why. Because it went in a different direction from the rest of the series? Because there were too many Riders in it? Because the title character is an idiot?
Well let me give my opinions on each of the guesses. First, just because it's a formulaic kids show it doesn't mean it can't go outside the box and try something new? Second, the multiple Riders can give us different characters, motivations and can help show that not everyone who gets the power of a Rider is a good person; though on the other hand, too many characters can easily make a show feel crowded if there isn't enough time, focus, and character development to go around properly. As for Shinji, yeah the guy is a dolt, no denying that. If anybody knows why Ryuki gets all the hate please let me know.
Now for me to talk about Ryuki Survive Form, it's not very good in my books. Ryuki gets pauldrons that look like Dragreder's head (his contract monster and the source of his power), gold highlights on his armor, his helmet gets gold antenna meant to look like a dragon's whiskers and his Drag Visor becomes a gun that can turn into a sword. The pauldrons unfortunately don't look all that good in my opinion, it's the upturned shoulder pads that kill it for me; it just looks clunky. How Shinji even gets this form is underdeveloped too.
I mean we already knew that Ren got his survive card from Tezuka when he died and that he was planing on using it. But Shiro had to have known that Shinji would use that card against him and try to stop the Rider War when he gave it to him so what the hell?
Also we knew that there at least two other Survive cards out there since according to the design of the card Tezuka got from Shiro the cards we based off a bird and its two wings so we knew there were other Survive cards out there and that Shiro had them. So this form did have some foreshadowing and didn't just come out of nowhere unlike some other entries on this list.
But the question still remains, Shinji had no intention of participating in the war, in fact the only reason why he participated is to save people from the Mirror Monsters and stop the fighting between the Riders so why would Shiro willingly give a power boost to someone who he knows will not play by his rules? So a flimsy reason, somewhat average upgrades and a bad appearance, yeah #15 looks like a decent spot for Ryuki, sorry Shinji.
# 14 Agito Shinning
I have not seen this show, Ihoweverhaveseenreviewsofthisshow. I do not think I will like this show very much given the evidence I have seen. Everyone in the show is in someway an asshole, the main bad guy is a hypocritical idiot and it is filled to the gills with Inoue's tropes. But that's a topic for another day when I finally talk about Jetman. As for Agito, aside from the writing, characters and repetition of plot points I do like the designs of the Riders. Agito's Shining Form however is not one of them.
Now this form is supposed to be the true power of the Overlord of Light, the pinnacle of human evolution. Yet we've seen Riders before and after Agito that are far stronger then him. It's essentially Burning From with weaker defenses, faster and with his weapon becoming two swords instead of one long double bladed one. Though there are somethings about the design that I do like; the black under-suit does do its job of making the color on his arms, feet and chest; mainly silver and red pop.
The main reason why this is so low however is because this form, like the rest of his forms just comes right the hell out of nowhere; he just steps into the sun and BAM Final Form. Also Agito can only transform into this form in the sunlight, so if he ever needs to fight at night he's hosed. Agito Shining Form, the form of Ultimate Evolution or the form of the Ultimate Hippie? YOU MAKE THE CALL!
#13 Decade Complete
This suit is just plain old fashioned bad. Decade in my opinion was a very messy show with a very poor execution. Now I get the concept of Decade, a celebration of the Heisei era with a hero that can harness the powers of those who came before, however the writing was sloppy, the portrayals of the previous Riders ranged from boring to insulting and Tsukasa himself was an egotistical schmuck whose Photographer's eye really needed a monocle, contacts or glasses take your pick. This form like the rest of the forms that Inoue wrote just comes out of nowhere, the K-Touch needed to become Complete Form just happened to be held by the Dark Riders. How did it get there, who made it, why did the Dark Riders know to hide it, why didn't they try using it themselves, how did Tsukasa know how to use the damn thing? Say it with me kids, it's never explained!
As I said the design does not look good, just using the Final Ride Cards as Pauldrons that change to a specific Rider when one is summoned alongside Decade, also Decades' Card is just placed on his forehead with two glaring Magenta lines going between both of the eyes on the helmet no doubt obscuring Tsukasa's vision that's smart design work right there! Also not a big fan of the mostly silver color scheme with nothing aside from black and small traces of magenta to try and balance it out, it just doesn't work for me. Decade Complete From is a complete washout.
#12 Stronger Charge Up Form
The trope had to get its start somewhere, so why not in the Shōwa era? Yes the Final Form didn't start with Kuuga but with the seventh Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider Stronger! While it was the first it isn't necessarily the best; but it did help to set up the tropes of what I believe a good Final Form should be. Power needed to defeat stronger enemies, check. Before Charge Up Stronger would have been reduced to scrap before the power of the Delza Army, hell if he had this power sooner he might have been able to save Tackle. But that's just a "what if" kind of thing and we really shouldn't dwell on these types of things right?
RIGHT? Though admittedly Stronger barely showed up in this thing so, good.
Power that comes at a great cost, check. See Charge Up may give Stronger greater power but if he doesn't power down from this form in less then a minute then he'll overload and kablam! Bye bye bug man. It fits all the criteria except for the "story-line significance" part of the Final From, he just got the upgrade from a random scientist that he apparently saved from Black Satan (the organization that Stronger fought against in the first half of his series and the ones who turned him into a Cyborg), real gripping story telling there kids. However while this Form is essential to the history of the franchise, I am just not a fan of the design, and that directly ties in with the design of Stronger, now I know that this was the 70's and the show was trying to innovate with the designs of the Riders but I just plain old don't like the design of Stronger. The size of the helmet, the eyes and football armor just doesn't work for me and adding big blobs of white and silver on it really doesn't make things better. Stronger Charge Up; strong enough to be #12 but not much else.
#11 Fourze Cosmic States
Ugh this form and Rider, honestly I have a hard time deciding what's the worst Heisei Kamen Rider series from the ones I've seen so far, Decade or Fourze. Because just like Decade the biggest problem I had with Fourze was the ending which I won't spoil here, but just check out Fourze and prepare to have your barf bags on stand by. Now back to Cosmic States, this form allows Fourze to use the powers of all Forty of his Astroswitches (his collectible trinket/ power totems) which he can channel and combine through his chest plate for extra powers. Though he mostly just stuck to using the elemental switches as far as I can remember. This form also allows Fourze to generate wormholes which he uses to take out the Horoscope of the week in the void of space where it can be turned back to a normal human with no excessive area damage. Yeah just knocking out a normal human in Earth's Mesosphere should present no life threatening consequences what so ever. Look doofus if entering that high in a planet's atmosphere didn't work for Iron Man or Shepard what makes you think a normal human teenager would fare better?
Also this form is apparently only maintained by the stability of Gentaro's (Fourze's user) friendship with the members of the Kamen Rider Club. Yes, this form literally runs on friendship.
Yeah yeah call me cynical and what not but a form that runs on friendship and with a dude as stupid and annoyingly perky as Gentaro; yeah not gonna work for me. Design wise, like Stronger I am not a huge fan of Fourze's design. Now the rocket design I get because Fourze was designed around the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's Vostok 1 flight in 1961 and the main themes of Fourze revolves around space. But were the eyebrows on the helmet really necessary? Some people have taken to saying that he looks like a retarded storm trooper, I wouldn't go that far, to me he looks more like a little kid mixed a NASA mascot with a PlayStation controller. Fourze Cosmic States, not even the most hardcore of bronies would accept this form at base value.
#10 Faiz Blaster Form
Now we're getting to the good ones; ironically with another Rider whose adventures I don't want to see. Faiz is another of those series that I have no intention of seeing, not just because of Inoue but for two more reasons, from what I have seen it just seems too mean spirited and spiteful for me to get any entertainment out of it. Also this particular series has the most despised character in the history of the entire franchise who almost always gets away with his crap. As I mentioned in the third part of my review of Kamen Rider Taisen; Masasto Kusaka is a human shaped turd and I refuse to withstand the sight or mention of him for more then is necessary. In fact, now is the time to introduce the Bastometer (TM) a meter that shows how much of a bastard someone is in my eyes and how they stand, from those who are likable because of how much of a bastard they are starting with Rusty Venture; to scum of the earth ending with Chris Brown.
And as you can see Kusaka is right in the sweet spot between George Swell from Silent Hill Downpour and Right from Toqger.
But enough about that, time to discuss Blaster Form which is definitely one of the cooler Final Forms. As the name implies this thing has a giant gun that can also become a sword, but it also has shoulder mounted Gatling guns and a jet-pack that allows Faiz to fly. Also his design is really good too; a nice balance of just four colors and I really do like the designs of the Faiz Riders with an smooth armored look that kind of reminds me of the first Tron movie. But the biggest problem with this form is just like with the rest of Inoue's writing when it comes to new forms, say it with me kids it comes right the hell out of nowhere! Yeah apparently the former head of Smart Brain (the Orphnoch's organization and the company that designed the Faiz Rider Gears/belts (whichever you want to call them I don't care)) was working on this and just decided to mail this to Mari (the one who got the Faiz belt in the first place) which relied on a Smart Brain satellite to unlock the transformation by beaming down to the belt, but if that's the case why didn't Smart Brain just destroy the satellite since they knew they didn't have the belt and.
Yeah if you stop to think about this, the writing really doesn't hold up, but I have a bit of a soft spot for this form and this is my list after all. Faiz Blaster, just managing to blast it's way to the top 10 despite Inoue's lazy ass writing.
#9 Wizard Infinity Style
OOOhhhh boy Wizard; I already know I'm going to have
some people after my blood after this, but such is the path I've chosen,
well showtime. Now for context as to my feelings about Wizard; at this
point in my life I was pretty much on my way to becoming a full fan of
Kamen Rider and was starting looking back on the earlier parts of the
Heisei era. However this was also the point in my life that I was in my
senior year at college so I didn't exactly have a whole lot of time to
watch the then running series at the time; Wizard. It also didn't help
that, well I just found Wizard to be rather boring and by the books in
terms of show format, I was really getting tired of the 2 parts episode plot
formula of the show and the fact that I found Haruto to be a rather meh
protagonist didn't help much either. I mean when the most memorable thing about the guy is the type of doughnut he eats there's something wrong here.
That said I do get the significance of this form. Haruto just had his inner Phantom; Dragon destroyed by Legion.
NO, Not that Legion.
So yeah his source of magic is destroyed and a uber-powerful Phantom is on the loose.
But he manages to restore Dragon with his resolve to never give up and
was reborn with this new form. Now in terms of fitting in the show's
themes of dealing with despair it fits in rather well. You've lost
everything, those that you cherish are on the verge of being lost to you
forever, do you just give up and become consumed by your inner demons,
or do you pick yourself back up and face the despair head on and;
through your own perseverance and the help of those around you find that ray of hope
that helps things turn out alright? Infinity style is the
personification of that notion.
I also like the symbolism behind this form. For starters, the crystal design. Since all of Wizard's other forms revolve around precious stones and those stones have ties to various magics since they come from the earth, some speculate that crystals help to draw in power from the earth to fuel arcane powers of wizards, warlocks, witches and other magic users. While the other four forms are based around precious stones, specific elements and areas of magic; crystals and thus Infinity Style draws their power from the most primal parts of the earth, for Haruto, his most primal instinct, hope. It's just that the crystal color is a tad bit overwhelming for my taste, and the dragon design for the other forms of Wizard is very diluted.
But his Axcalibur weapon is really cool, it's an axe that turns into a gun and can grow to giant size to chop enemies in half. He can even move the damn thing without having to hold it so he can chop enemies in the air like if Paul Bunyan became a psychic hibachi chef. Wizard Infinity Style, a great shining hope and a pretty decent Final Form. Next time I start to talk about my Personal Favorite Rider Forms.

Yep it's that time of the year again where the current Kamen Rider gets his Final Form and attains their defining stats, powers and in some cases a huge step in their character development. But the most important reason for this part of the franchise is of course that classic and essential part of mass entertainment no matter where you are in the world.
Yeah let's not kid ourselves here these shows relay on merchandising to keep the machine going and that's okay; money makes the world go round, people need to pay for food, homes, clothing, cocaine, to prevent Lord Xenu from conquering earth and whatever else they need it for. Now I know that it isn't all about the money but hey come on here people need to get paid for their hard work and provide for their families if they have one you know? I know that focusing too much on merchandising can kill a show in a snap but here's the trick, if the show's writing is compelling enough and people get invested enough with the show, then they'll buy the toys and whatnot of their favorite show to not only show their support but to keep a little piece of what they love in their homes to either show their kids or sell on eBay when the toy line ends. I kind of got off track there but the point is a Final Form more often then not helps to sell that years Rider to the fans, to help them decide how they stack up in the franchise. So this is my own personal list of the top 16 Final Forms of Kamen Rider as of 2015.
Now before we begin I will be laying down the criteria as to how I'll be ranking these forms. First is obviously aesthetics, first impressions are everything when it comes to judging something for the first time especially a Kamen Riders form, some might look really cool and badass, others however, might just look so nightmare inducing in it's heinousness that many would assume that the design was ripped right out of the Necronomicon. But yeah if it don't look good, you aren't going to be drawing in the casual passer by. Unless the intention is for them to watch out of shear hilarity by what they just saw, in which case; congratulations Joel Schumacher gives you his pity!
Yeah, the dude who gave this the seal of approval feels sorry for you, bra-vo!
Second, the powers that the form has. Final forms aren't much good if it can't help you take down the bad guys easier. I mean application beats out aesthetics any day of the week and a cool power can make up for a bad design most of the time. But for some of these, man that power better be worth it!
Third, its introduction and implementation in the series. One of the big WOW factors for the final form is in how the thing is introduced. The Rider is pushed to his absolute limit, the villain is about to kill him and make those that the Rider has been trying so desperately to protect suffer before begging for the sweet release of death. Then out of that desperation a new power emerges, symbolizing not only the Rider's resolve to protect those he cares for but also the culmination of their struggle against the threat the villain represents. But sometimes power like that can come at a cost, and the Rider will eventually have to pay the piper, and when that time comes, what will be lost?
Maybe just an arm and a leg. No biggie.
Fourth, my familiarity and feelings towards the Rider himself. Now keep in mind that I haven't seen every single Rider series so I don't know everything about the Riders or their series. I mean I've seen most of them and the four that I haven't I've seen reviews of their series so I at least have a general idea of what I'm working with. So if your favorite Final form isn't as high as you'd want it on the list, too bad, make your own and quit whining. Oh wait I forgot what internet I'm on.
Time to cover my house in bacon, again. Maybe this time I won't get brought to the nuthouse.
Finally, only final forms used in the Rider's respective series are going to be included in the countdown; so no Super Tatoba, no Meteor Nadeshiko Fusion States, and no Infinity Dragon Gold or anything like that. From the first episode to the last those are the parameters I'm going to be judging by and that is that. Now before we get to the list itself I might as well give my thoughts on the honorable mention; Kamen Rider Drive: Type Tridoron.
Why is this only the honorable mention? Obviously it's too new at the time of writing this post. The episode where it's introduced hasn't even been subbed so I can't comment on it without giving spoilers on its powers that I found on a Kamen Rider Wiki. So I just have the aesthetics to work with here; and oh lord this form.
I get what they were trying to do by incorporating Tridoron into the design but it just makes Drive look like if Ronald McDonald became a NASCAR driver. What kills it for me are the headlights on top of the eyes on the helmet, yeah obscure the field of vision even more then the extra plastic or whatever on the sides of the helmet that's practical costume design right there. Also the wheels on the feet don't help matters here. They just look like they'd hinder Drives maneuverability rather then help.
And you thought the big honking wheels on these things looked stupid!
Now for the cherry on top; the symmetry the suit could have had is ruined by the black left arm coming out from the Tire Shoulder-pad, but because the designers went the route they did with the tire they botched what could have been an at least passable design. In short a less then stellar looking Final form for a "meh" Rider for a unbalanced average series. Now again I would give more praise to Type Tridoron if I were allowed to talk about the buildup and powers but as of right now I can't. But wait! If Drive is the honorable mention why am I still calling this countdown the top 16? Well be sure to come back next time for the answer.

Yep that's 3000 people all over this worthless little mud-ball who have read this tiny blog, and it's not even a year old. Now I have absolutely no idea if that's a high number according to other internet writer, bloggers, critics etc etc etc or not but hey by my standards that's quite an achievement. I just want to thank everyone who's ever read this blog, will read it or wasn't even interested enough to even comment on it. I still have a long ways to go before I can even consider turning this into some sort of career, but I can just look at this time as preparing for the grand performance to come.
Now I do plan on doing video reviews at some point but I just need the resources, the programing, the hardware and the Cojones to actually do it. Also I do want to start making lets plays but I just need to know how first. I already have an Elgato Capture card but I just need to know about the legal route, you know knowing which games to make a let's play about without pissing off Youtube and the companies involved. I know this is a legal grey-area/ minefield and I just want to make sure I don't set anything off. Maybe when I get my PS4 things will start to change, we'll see. So the group finally and I do mean finally make it all the way up to Kandori's lair where he's not exactly feeling all that good. Even when Aki offers to kill the group right then and there he just tells her to piss off and she does. Essentially the reason why he stopped acting like a bad Final Fantasy villain (at least for right now) is because even after he gained the power of a god he doesn't feel like he actually accomplished anything, so he asks the group what it is they're living for. He says that goals are what gives people the strength to carry on living, so after every single goal you have is achieved, what's the damn point? Mark says that they live to make the most out of every second of life.
Reiji says its to wipe Kandori's bloodline off the face of the earth; question; does that include yourself? Kandori asks Naoya who replies that his purpose is to find his purpose. Well my solution, find something new, trust me if anyone has true desire, then nothing will ever be enough. You're essentially a god now right so take the route Dr Manhattan did and create new life in another part of the universe, come on this isn't all that difficult dude; you have all the time in the world.
Or you would if you really were a god, because guess what Kandori? Unless you truly are this all powerful entity that you claim to be you would have come across this solution already, but the truth is, you aren't a god; just a sad, miserable, egotistical schmuck with Crazy Steve level delusions of grandeur. Nanjo pretty much says that adding that seeing Kandori like this is just painful to watch him acting this pathetic. He knows that Kandori admits that he did absolutely nothing on his own and that's why he's sunken to this level. He says that Kandori and Maki's desire to destroy everything comes from their anxiety of the future; that if everyone feels as miserable and scared as they are that would somehow make them better.
Kandori snaps at this and attacks. After he's beaten; guess what you're still not done. Kandori's Persona Nyarlathotep turns out to not actually be his Persona and forcibly gives Kandori more power, transforming him into a monster called God Kandori. God Kandori is going to kick your teeth in. Not only does this transformation occur right after the fight with Kandori but it's still the same battle, so all the damage you took in the first battle is carried over into this fight, joy. Also God Kandori's weaknesses have almost completely reversed from his first form; he's stronger, has new attacks and has more HP. Yeah, have fun with that.
So once Kandori and Nyarlathotep are down for the count Nanjo asks him where the real Maki is. Where the alternate reality is revealed to be the real Maki's world in her heart; everything she knows as perfect and idealistic as she intended where everything is perfectly fitting with her world view from before her hospitalization, born from her despair of being trapped in the hospital, with little chance of getting better, cursing the world for her frailty, and her isolation from her friends and workaholic mother. The world was created when Maki's mind became linked to the Deva system before the first successful test run was finished one month ago. Her mind supposedly synchronized with the system creating a link between the worlds where Kandori entered and came into contact with Mai and well we know the rest.
Hey um, remember that X-Men reference back in Part 4? Yeah let me see if I've got this straight, a woman who is under extreme psychological stress, cursing the world for its unfairness and cruelty uses an unnatural power to create an alternate, ideal reality? OH MY GOD, PERSONA 1 REALLY IS HOUSE OF M!
Though thankfully this is nowhere near as stupid as House of M. It turns out that the Maki in the group, Aki and Mai were also parts of the real Maki's heart, Maki's ideal self, and her dark and light parts of her inner child respectively. Maki of course freaks out about this and runs off to the real Maki who Kandori has been keeping in the castle. Kandori asks the group to save Maki from becoming like him with his last breath.
So he dies and I'm sure he and Nyarlathotep will never trouble the world again. The group manages to find the Maki's with the real one hooked up to the Deva System like a life support machine. Aki is of course furious over Kandori's death and says that there's no one left who can save them now that they've killed the only person the real Maki could count on. Ideal Maki is not exactly stable at this point and is freaking out, even with everyone trying to calm her down she knows that everything that's happened, the town getting wrecked, the demons, Kandori nearly killing humanity is because of her. Aki and Ideal Maki run off with the Mirror of Chaos showing the Deva System overloading shattering the core and the Mirror of Chaos shatters as well leaving the group little chance of getting back inside the world of Maki's heart.
However the Ideal Maki left behind her compact and find another compact mirror on the real Maki. The real Maki's compact is complete while the Ideal Maki's is empty so the group fill in the empty compact with shard of the Mirror of Chaos and use its power to go back inside Maki's heart. One trip later and the group wakes up in the entrance of the Lost Forest with Setsuko waiting for them. Nanjo explains everything to Setsuko and take her with her to meet with Mai who's crying in the forest. They find her in her gingerbread house again and Setsuko apologizes to her for everything that's happened.
After she calms down Mai says that Aki has gone off the deep end and has gone to awaken the darkest, most evil part of Maki's heart, a monster called Pandora. Aki was then swallowed by Pandora who is now trying to completely destroy the world of Maki's heart which would end up killing the real Maki. The group asks where Pandora is and theorize that she could be behind the door in the Library that they couldn't open before. Mai says they're right but they'll need the power of the three compacts and the help of the Ideal Maki. They already have the green and red ones but they still need the last one and the Ideal Maki. Mai says that Ideal takes priority and that she's deeper in the forest. So the group finds Idea where's she's not exactly in a talkative mood.
Nor a very distinguishable mood right now.
She tells everyone to go away and that's she's going through her "I'm a monster" phase right now and with everything we've learned so far realizing that she's ultimately the cause of all this BS I can't exactly refute her claims.
See Shouichi, this is someone who's fears about being a monster are justified you self-absorbed butt-plug.
Mark and the others basically tell her that it's perfectly human to be jealous in someway or another and that no matter what happens, she's their friend. But she still insists that everything is her fault and that she's the worst person alive, until Naoya tells her to stop hiding behind her misplaced guilt. With some more words of encouragement from the rest of the group Maki comes to her senses and joins up with the rest of the group to stop Pandora. Back at the Gingerbread house Mai explains that to get to the last compact they have to find the true Maki Sonomura.
The one that they got from the real world doesn't have the power they require, Mai says that the real Maki's consciousness is hiding in the Alaya Cavern behind the shrine. Setsuko agrees to stay behind with Mai while the team goes to the cavern to find the real Maki. Mai gives them one more instruction. That when they have all three compacts, chant the spell Erusaer Tsymmom (Mommy's Treasure backwards) at the door and they'll finally have access to Pandora. Now to prepare for next time where we enter the cavern, find the real Maki and stop Pandora once and for all.

The team finally made it out of the Black Market and head to Kandori's castle in the third ward. However there is of course a catch. Aki meets them at the front door and says that they can't get in without "the one from the forest" there but she's too much of a chicken so that ain't gonna be happening anytime soon. She then runs inside and closes the door behind her. Mark tries to push open the door while Nanjo notices that Aki placed something in the pedestal and that they won't be getting inside without finding the second half of the key, and since she mentioned the one hiding in the forest on the west side of town that's where they've got to go now. Reiji tries to just bulldoze his way inside screw his BS but Mark tells him to calm down and that he completely loses it when Kandori is involved and that whatever it is he doesn't have to carry it all on his own. Reiji just says that they all make him sick with that kind of grade school crap. Maki tells him to knock it off but Mark says that whether he's disgusted or not, they all have the same goal anyway. So now they're off to the Lost Forest which means back through that stupid subway again.
Once they made it back they head off to the shops to get new equipment and then to the Velvet Room to see what new Personas they can get before finally heading off to the Forest. Once they finally made it through the forest they find a gingerbread house (seriously) where they find a little girl in a white dress, Mark recognizes her as being the ghost from the historical society and asks if she's allies with Aki. The girl starts sobbing at this accusation Maki goes to comfort her and asks if she's Mai, she says yes.
Is it just me or does she seem familiar? Nah probably just me.
Maki then notices that Mai has a half-moon shaped compact mirror that looks suspiciously like hers. They ask if Aki is Mai's friend. She then starts sobbing again saying that Aki is the evil her. She said that one day Kandori showed up and Aki just came out of Mai and went with him.
Mai also explains more about what the mirrors are, she claims that it has the power to grant wishes and that she was the one who created the town and everyone in it! Maki asks what Mai didn't just use her mirror to stop Kandori and Aki but she says it only works properly with the full mirror and Aki has the other half, with it she can just cancel out Mai's wishes and that's why she retreated to the Forest. Thus Kandori's trap, he knows that Mai would use whatever power she had left to keep him and Aki out, so he set it up so that Naoya and his group have no choice but to get the other half of the mirror for him, smart bastard. Mai knows this and tells the group they can't have the mirror and that she should keep hiding from Kandori. But the group tells her that hiding from her problems won't solve anything. Mai then asks the big question, what are they living for anyway that would make them try so hard in the first place? The rest of the group doesn't know but Naoya says that it's to find that reason that keeps him going. That convinces Mai to give the compact to him. And sure enough when the group makes it back to the castle and place the half inside of the pedestal it sinks into the ground and the door opens. So the sneaky jackass has both half's of the wish granting mirror and is just letting the heroes come up because he fell into one of the biggest evil villain cliches. He's being overconfident that nothing can stop his plans and is inviting the heroes up just so he can gloat. I'm pretty sure that's somewhere on the evil Overlord list, so yeah, dumb ass. So the group manages to make it to the fifth floor where sure enough Kandori is up there waiting for them just so he can gloat. But not before he reveals that Reiji is his,
Yep, and the reason why Reiji is so obsessed with killing Kandori is because Reiji's Mother was their father's mistress who he just used and threw away like a dirty dishrag. And since their father is dead Reiji figures that Kandori is close enough, especially since he's as much of a scumbag as their father. Kandori just has Aki zap Reiji with a lightening attack to shut him up. Kandori then has Aki show the group his plans and ambitions by summoning a giant evil mirror called the Mirror of Chaos to show that he destroyed the hospital back in the real world and created his own castle in it's place called Deva Yuga. From there Kandori will begin his campaign to conquer the world, gain the power of a god and exterminate humanity using the power of his Mirror of Chaos to gain control of dimensions without the use of the Deva System. Kandori and Aki then head to the real world leaving a demon behind to stall for time. Saurva can cause some problems if you don't heal Reiji, Mark and Nanjo fast after Kandori's attacks, even then his Mamagnara attack will hit everyone with Earth damage so take that into consideration when equipping Personas, other then that he should go down faster from Fire, Ice and Wind attacks. Once he's dealt with the group try to find a way to chase after Kandori. Maki suggests the Old Mansion where there were rumors of people being spirited away. It could lead to a clue, especially since SEBEC HQ is located in the exact same place in the real world; there might be a tear or something that could lead back to their world. So off to the mansion they go and once they made it to the mansions top floor they find a device guarded by the demon Hariti. But something seems off since Hariti is speaking with the voice of Maki's mom. The group puts their weapons away and Hariti transforms back into Setsuko. Nanjo explains about this version of Maki to her and before any questions can be answered the portal starts to close so Setsuko stays behind to keep the portal stable while they stop Kandori. Once the group makes it back to the real world they find themselves back inside of the Deva System Chamber where they find Dr Nicholai where he's spouting about the destruction of mankind, letting judgement rain over all humanity and other such nihilistic evil BS. Kandori then teleports in and says that everyone on earth are little more then extensions of himself now and are praising his coming genocide of humanity. When Maki asks why he want to do this he says that that question sounds unlike her. He says that with the mirror he knows and sees all and he once again does the cliche thing and instead of killing them tells them to reach him at the top of Deva Yuga. So up to the top they go and GOOD GOD IS THIS PLACE BIG! No really this is one of the biggest areas in the game, filled to the brim with super strong enemies traps, pitfalls and various other nasty surprises. Where we last left our heroes, Devius has awakened and chased them off with just his morning breath. The Kyoryugers took the worst of it and are recovering at the Hyper Ressha Terminal's hospital. Yep since the first part of the movie was mostly spent around the Kyoryugers, time for the Toqgers to get the spotlight, oh goody. Conductor informs the team that Gabutyra and the rest of the Zyudenchi are staying at the terminal in their giant battery forms. The team decides that even though they can't win against Devius on their own they still have to fight, otherwise the world is screwed. Even if they could they can't charge over to Devius until the Resshas are repaired, so until then, we have ourselves some character scenes. Which I won't spoil for you readers, because I honestly think you need to see it for yourselves, it's a scene that shows what Toqger could have been if more time, thought and care went into writing it. Now I'm not attacking the writer of Toqger Yasuko Kobayashi here; I mean when she was writing Toqger she had a lot on her plate at the time. In addition to this she was also writing the anime adaptations of "Attack on Titan" and "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure", two anime adaptations of highly beloved and acclaimed manga that if executed badly would have most likely dealt serious damage to her carrier, so when it came between the three it's pretty clear which one had to be given less priority. I mean let's face it, Attack on Titan and Jojo's source materials aren't even over yet so there's more wiggle room and can still go on. Toqger on the other hand would only last for one year as apposed to the others which have been going on for much longer. I hope you get what I'm getting at. Oh jeez I forgot about these two.

These two were originally part of the Deboss army until they turned good at the end of the series and now work with the Kyoryugers. Them and their cartoon sound effects are completely useless in this movie, though seriously why are they making so many over the top noises were they hanging around with Michael Winslow?
Now for the Toqgers to also give the raspberry, not to Dark Helmet but to Devius as the next morning they roll out for Devius' lair with the amalgamated Zyudenchi. Where we see President Ice Cream Bunny thanking Torin for his cooperation.
"And when this is over I can go up to Heaven with Snuffy."
Torin was also a creation of Deboss and the Kyoryuger's mentor before he was killed towards the end of the series. The team heads out but of course things aren't that easy, Devius knows they're coming and using the powers of Darkness resurrects several Shadow Kaijin to keep the Toqgers from reaching him before he fully awakens. Table and Chair Shadow are the first at bat flipping a junction point to try and get the trains off course. Akira manages to reset the switch and the rest continue while he holds off the Brothers. Next up are two Kurainers piloted by these two.

Hikari, Kagura, Mio and Tokatti hold them down while Right crashes the Ressha with the Zyudenchi at Devius' force field, destroying it and granting him access to the crashed Station. Right makes it to Devius just as Daigo shows up to give him back up. Akira manages to beat the brothers but is out numbered by two more Shadow Kaijin.

The other Toqgers aren't doing much better. The girls not only have to deal with Hammer Shadow
but also Chain Shadow.
The guys are getting kicked in the head by Fence Shadow as well as Vacuum Shadow.
No you're not high they did mix an elephant with a vacuum cleaner. This thing was also featured in one of the worst episodes of the show as well as one of the worst mech intro episodes I've ever seen.
Even immobile Devius is throwing Right and Daigo around like rag-dolls even using Sith lightning on the two; not even joking here the only thing missing is him screaming about UNLIMITED POWERRRRRRRRR! He then demonstrates said unlimited power by fully awakening, using his GCI tentacles to attack them and then drives the two through a steel door. All seems lost but the Kyoryugers show up to help the rest of the team, Utchy backing up Akira, Amy and Ian helping Mio and Kagura; and Nossan and Souji backing up Tokatti and Hikari. Meanwhile the two reds can't make a dent in Devius, even Right's ungodly stupid Hyper Toq 1 from barely helps, it just barely manages to keep him alive as Devius knocks him so hard it forces him to power down and Daigo protects Right from the killing blow by transforming into his own Battlizer, Carnival Mode which Devius takes down in one shot. He then hands Right the Carnival Zyudenchi as he manages to get Devius in a full nelson. Right then loads up the Daikaiten Cannon with the Battery and prepares to fire. The other Rangers however are out matched by the six Shadow Kaijin and are about to be killed. Daigo tells Right to nut up and fire the damn thing, Right then transforms the Zyudenchi into the Hyper Kyoryuger Ressha and fires at Devius.
MAKANSA.... MAKAKASAPOP..... MEKKASAPPA! Oh, to hell with it. SPECIAL BEAM CANNON!
But instead of what happened in DBZ Daigo manages to survive the blast and the rest of the Rangers manage to combine their attacks to take out the Shadow Kaijin. The two Reds manage to escape the collapsing Station and make it back to the others. But of course Devius isn't dead yet and grows, he's about to kill them when the group gets some expected back up.
Yep, the long awaited return of KyoryuCyan, Grey, Violet and Silver.
No seriously, where the hell were these guys while all this was going on? Apparently the only reason they got involved is because Candelira and Luckyrou told them what was going on, but wait shouldn't those two chunkheads have told them sooner so, you know the stituation might have been resolved easier and with the chance of them all coming back alive? But then again what do you expect from those two, actually be compitent? Yeah I guess that would be too much.
But the Toqgers get some really unexpected back up. The Shadow Line generals, hell Nero even does his own little entry pose.
Don't worry Nero we still think you're cool.
Yeah I honestly think this is a first here folks, the current Villain faction helping the two teams defeat the main villain in a crossover movie. And no I don't count AbareKiller helping out in the Dekaranger Abaranger crossover. First off he was a ranger (an evil one granted)but he did reform and was considered to be a part of the team before he died. Anyway the reason why Zett is helping is pretty simple, they want revenge. So the Kyoryugers and Toqgers do their team transformations the groups combined their powers and finally destroyed Devius. WAIT WHAT? After Devius was kicking so much ass, after nearly killing the Kyoryugers just by fireing his laser beams he gets taken out just because twenty people fired all at once, the dude that made Deboss, the mosnter that whiped out the dinosaurs, just got beaten because of a really big blast?
Yeah I know that's how these movies tend to play out but usually the enemies in those other movies are just remnants of the last season's army's or at least affiliated with them in someway, but Devius was the guy that literally created the Deboss army, so I kind of expected a bit more from this guy then just the standard group final blast (granted this wasn't exactly the conventional group blast with the inclusion of Zett and the rest of the Shadow Line) but you get where I'm coming from right? A god like being should not be taken down this easily. Sure since a Big bad was involved with taking him down I can kind of buy it but the principal of it all just doesn't sit well with me. It also doesn't exactly make the Kyoryugers look all that good if it requires the power of their successors Big Bad to help take down the creator of their Big Bad you know what I mean Vern? Hell this whole movie seems kind of schizophrenic like that the first half of the movie seems dedicated to making the Kyoryugers look good and the second half for the Toqgers, hell the Toqgers seem to be better written here then the show, odd. So yeah Kars is dead, the teams make their goodbyes and all's well that ends well. So in my opinion, this movie was okay but had some problems. Thankfully the more annoying parts of Toqger didn't show up all that often in this movie, if even Daigo was groaning about how much of an idiot Right is this movie would have sunk like a stone. However to seemingly make up for this the problems of Kyoryuger seemed to crop up more often, we only really see Daigo interacting with the Toqger cast; the other five main members were mostly there to help with the fights and the four extra rangers literally only show up for the final exchange with Devius. Speaking of which they built up Devius as this ultra Omega level Badass that could wipe out planets like it was nothing, just to end up with a knockoff off a far better villain that the movies writer also worked on. And yeah Kars is a far superior villain then this cosmic cupcake. Just watch or read Battle Tendency for evidence of that alone. On that note at least this movie give me plenty of chances to make Jojo references without having to mention the Persona series. Which I'll get back to covering next time, unless something else comes along during that time.

This movie is going to be a problem, as you may or may not know I have, well a definitive opinion of Toqger. But I don't want to look like a psychotic lunatic describing my feelings about Toqger, so I will leave my good friend Silky Johnson, a true trained and learned hater to give my feelings about the 38th Super Sentai.
A true hater; one that I hope and fear will become someday. But I've gone on record long enough about my hatred of these unimaginative morons; time to talk about their predecessors; Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. They're the strongest braves in history who fought against the Deboss army, an army of monsters that caused the extermination of the Dinosaurs millions of years ago. In the modern day they tried to revive their master Deboss by gathering emotional energy from people. I think Kyoryuger was an okay series, but the complaints I have with it are pretty much the same as everyone else, too much focus on Daigo especially when this team had a roster of TEN RANGERS that the extra development could have gone to but it wasn't because reasons, way too much explosions (thank you Sakamoto) and the show in general was a bit too goofy for my taste.
I'll get into this more when I decide to talk about the first eight episodes of Kyoryuger's adaptation Power Rangers Dino Charge but I'm definitely liking Dino Charge more then Kyoryuger. So for right now let's see how these two teams mix and if I have to hurl afterwords from digesting the concoction. We open in space where Lady, a character from Toqger's other movie "Galaxy Line SOS" (also I see the Thomas the Tank Engine reference you made by naming her "Lady" nice try) reports to the Rainbow line that a Galaxy Line station has been attacked by a mass of green energy and both are on a collision course with the earth. So our army of Tom Hanks wannabees transform and head to the crash site to see what exactly caused the station to crash, discovering Zorimas and Cambrimas the foot solders and elite foot solders of the Deboss army emerging from the green energy seeping from the crashed station. The team tries to fight them off but their attack do jack all against them. Kagura is about to be killed by a Zorima until a certain duo shows up.
Yep the return of Daigo (Kyoryu Red) and Amy (Kyoryu Pink)
The two veterans easily take care of the goons while Tokatti and Kagura wonder who they are. Um you two should know at least half of that question since, oh wait that movie never happened never mind. The two then get saved by Nossan (Kyoryu Blue) from the grunt, but not from his puns.
Yep, Nossan absolutely loves these word puns, at least the guys at Tv Nihon did the translations as best as they could and explained what this highball joke was so it didn't go completely over our heads. But still just because I have to, here's the clip just out of principal.
Mio then gets saved by Ian (Kyoryu Black) while Souji (Kyoryu Green) one of the least developed characters in Kyoryuger saves Hikari, my favorite Toqger and who I think is the real leader of the group. As the Kyoryugers do their literally explosive introduction they inadvertently pull a Ziggy from RPM and catch the Toqgers in their back explosion sending them flying. HA ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, eh that's just plain old fashioned funny for several reasons, not the least of which showing how incompetent the Toqgers are. Hell the first 15 minutes of this movie seems to be dedicated to doing just that, and I am more then happy with that. Yeah I know the cardinal rule of any team up is to not make one faction look better then the other, but if the one that looks bad is Toqger I soooooooooooooo don't care. So while the train twits lick their burn marks the Kyoryugers clean house with the grunts.
Right, why is it that almost every time you open your mouth you say something stupid?
The Kyoryugers try to get to the station but are stopped by a green force field. Unfortunately like the Kyoryuger series itself the other members of the team search for a way to break the shield leaving Daigo to get all of the character interaction with the Toqgers. Really? The rest of the team didn't think to ask the Toqgers what they know about the situation and compare notes to hopefully find out what caused this; especially since this is tied into their group and network of allies? Oh wait there goes me and my logic again. Yeah why would we want to see the primary members of this team up bounce off of each other and get interesting character interactions based off of how different and similar they are?
Who would want to watch that? Heh heh, oy vey. Anyway after Daigo shows off his new haircut the Toqgers start asking Daigo questions which Conductor wants answered immediately and brings them on the trains so Daigo can explain it all. Also, yes Daigo can see and board the trains, because he has imagination.
Sorry but I have to do that everytime Toqger mentions Imagination, yeah that part still pisses me off and you should too. After more dialogue that causes brain tumors with every period Daigo explains that the station was brought down by Devius, the being responsible for creating Deboss and thus the Deboss army. Speaking of which Devius' henchman; Salamas is meeting with Zett and the rest of the Shadow Line to ask for help keeping the two Sentai teams off his back while Devius gains a physical form.
Wait a minute, this looks familiar. Oh god Devius is a Pillar Man! This might explain what happened to Kars after Joseph sent him into space. He got sent through a worm hole into this universe, was converted into a mass of energy and using his powers as the Ultimate Life form, created Deboss as a means to conquer the universe!
And in exchange they'll help Zett kill the Toqgers. Zett agrees and decides to loan Salamas a Shadow Kaijin. Salamas thanks Zett by kissing his robe which caused Morc to attack him for stepping out of line. After hearing the situation from Daigo the Toqgers offer their help but Daigo refuses pointing out how their weapons and attacks were useless against the grunts. He also senses something about them, something childish that he doesn't want to put in danger. Daigo then does a dine and dash as he JUMPS OUT OF THE MOVING TRAIN AND LANDS WITHOUT A SCRATCH! Right, not one to listen to reason, sound advice or anything that doesn't come from his own noise hole decides that they're going to fight Devius anyway, even though they know that their weapons and attacks can't hurt him and his creations.
While everyone tries to keep Right under control we cut to Utchy (Kyoryu Gold) waiting for Daigo at the train station. Our movie exclusive monster shows up with some Kuros; the Shadow Line's foot solders and after a silly little exchange Utchy tries to fight off the forces.
The decorated decorum devoted dunce in the middle is Clock Shadow.
However just like when the Toqgers couldn't hurt the Deboss grunts with their weapons, Utchy's sword can't cut it with the Shadow Line grunts either. Thankfully the other Toqger that I can stand, Akira shows up to help Utchy fend off the Kuros. After a pointless scene of Right making a right ass out of himself we cut back to the fight where Clock Shadow starts, well pretending he's a clock striking 12, Akira warns Utchy to run and not listen to him sing, Utchy of course refuses to run, the Toqgers then show up and Clock Shadow starts singing again forcing Akira to summon the Build Ressha to get them all to retreat. Clock Shadow orders the Kuros to go after them, when a certain group of gaudy Ninjas show up, and no one of them isn't Pierre Kirby; it's the Ninningers. Yep as is tradition now with these crossover movies we get a preview/showcase of the next seasons Sentai, though they usually come in near the end of the movie.
So yeah this an odd change of pace but a good one in my opinion. So for the next five minutes we get the Ninningers destroying all the Kuros and chasing Clock Shadow off, but not before he summons a Kurainer to squash them. Instead of summoning their Otomo Nin they instead use a Nin Shuriken that they just pulled out of their ass (so far not sure if this will actually be introduced in the show as of 5/6/15) to shrink the Kurainer to human size so they can finish it off with their finishing attack.

After Deadpool found his new targets for stealing his schtick we cut back to the Toqgers who have now been turned into kids, or rather restored to normal. As for Utchy, well.....
BABY!
Yeah it turns out that Clock Shadow has the ability to age regress a person; the longer they listen to his clock impression the farther back they go. Wait hold on, the longer the victim is exposed to the effects the younger they become. The one who has this power is weird, malicious and works for a guy who is viewed as the embodiment of pure evil.
OH GOD GET AWAY! The fact that Clock Shadows voice actor Masaya Onosaka is also the voice actor for Alessi does not help matters at all, in fact the little voice in my head is telling me that this casting choice and Clock Shadow's powers was made as an intentional reference. Ugh anyway Akira says that Clock Shadow's powers don't work on other Shadows and that's why he's fine. With the Toqgers occupied with Chibichi the Kyoryugers are trying to get to Devius, with no success, Daigo then summons Gabutyra to take a crack at it, however Kurainers show up to reinforce the barrier with darkness, so even with Gabutyra they can't get in. Akira calls the Kyoryugers to show them what happened to Utchy and the Toqgers.
GET IT?! Yeah I can't honestly believe they went there.
Ugh this whole review is getting squicky. What makes me feel even more uncomfortable is the fact that RIGHT of all people comes to the realization that the team's respective powers don't work on the other teams enemies. So for Devius to be stopped both teams have to work together. Clock Shadow shows up with an army of Kuros, Zorimas and Cambrimas. The Kyoryugers transform to protect the kids, however Right and the other kids can still transform and do so.
Couldn't we have these Toqgers instead?
Now time for me to explain something about my hatred for Toqger. Everyone I've seen defending this show says that "they're kids in adult bodies what do you expect of course they're going to be annoying, kids are annoying." Yeah I get that but here's the thing, the show says that the team are kids in adult bodies, but for me, it comes off as the leads being adults that are acting like children, and there is a gigantic difference. We know that kids more often enough do indeed act like the Toqgers, but again the problem is that as far as we can tell Adults are acting like Children! Do you get where I'm coming from?
But to be perfectly honest, for the rest of the movie where the Toqgers are kids, they are 1000 more tolerable for me. If the team from the start were portrayed by child actors this show would have fared far better in my eyes. I mean say what you will about Kou from Dairanger, Riki from Ohranger or Justin from Power Rangers Turbo at least when they were Rangers they were still kids in their civilian forms, you could have done what those shows or even Beetleborgs did, have the child actors and just have them grow to adult proportions when they transform, or even switch to more grown up voices while they're transformed so there won't be any scheduling conflicts with their schoolwork or whatever. Because from what little I've seen here these kids should have been the main heroes of the show, that change would have removed at least 50% of my rage at this show and make Right far more tolerable as a character, because this behavior is more tolerable from a kid then a grown ass adult. Also it seems that Right is acting more mature as a kid then he was as an adult. Okay, rant over.

So the two teams on Right's suggestion swaps their power totems with their opposite number, the Toqgers give the Kyoryugers their Resshas and the Kyoryugers give their Zyudenchi batteries, with the totems inserted (somehow) into their respective devices the fight is on. Akira would have joined in on this but, well he still has Chibichi to look after. And the core swap worked, as the combined forces can hurt both groups of foot solders now.
OH GOD NOT THAT THING AGAIN!
Great, that's just what this movie needed, the return of the unholy love child of Majin Buu and a dumpling. Long story go watch episode 15 to see the context behind this stupid looking abomination. So after, that the grunts are gone and all that's left is the mechanized Don Patch. Meanwhile the Shadow Line chew out Salamas for his plan going pear shaped. Salamas however lives up to his name and sets Castle Terminal on fire, yeah that part of Zetts cape he kissed? Yeah apparently that was him planing the "fuse" as it were for his pyrokinetic abilities. So he torches the place, steals some Kurainers and makes tracks. The two teams combine their powers to destroy Clock Shadow, but before he can grow Salamas steals the darkness and grows, fusing five Kuros with him to make,
THIS UNGODLY STUPID LOOKING THING!
I mean come on, are you kidding me with this thing? Look I get what they were going for, mixing a train with a dragon. I know that dragons were often grouped together with Salamanders in European mythology and modern depictions of Salamanders often cast them as being associated with fire and I guess the producers wanted to mix the themes of the two villain groups together but come on! There's mixing and matching and then there's taking two puzzle pieces from completely different sets and slamming them together until they kind of fit. So the teams summon their mechs, fire their lasers at Salamas, and they can't aim for crap. Salamas somehow manages to survive the initial assault so the team summon their strongest mechs ToQ Rainbow and Gigant Kyoryujin to destroy Salamas. With his destruction the Toqgers and Utchy grow to their adult forms again.
