So anything of importance that I missed last time? NOPE just dumbass characters acting like dumbasses. Speaking of; Chief Dumbass rolls into the demon theme park and finally meets the mastermind and resident Ninja Nerd.
NERRRRRRRD! Wait Mavro; SUPER MEGAFORCEEEEEE FLASHBAAAAAAAKSSSS!!! KILL HIM NOW I DON'T CARE WHO!!!
Aside from sharing the name of one of the worst villains in Power Rangers history this guy is clearly insane because why in the name of all that's good would ANYONE want to spend time with Takaharu unless he owes them money? Speaking of he tries to fight Mavro but is stoped by Mavro's Ninja clones. But since they're based off of ACTUAL (and one mythological but far more legit) NINJAS Takaharu gets his ass kicked. Mavro then extracts his Shadow from Takaharu and combines them with the three clones to create an Evil Clone of Takaharu, DARK AKANINGER!!!
Unfortunately Takaharu manages to separate himself from the Clone. So while he's not under Mavro's control he's lost all his Nintality to the Clone, but no problem since according to Mavro all he is now is just Leftovers.
Well dude Sonya and the American fanbase agrees and quite frankly with how your show progressed I'm right there with them so from now on we dub thee Leftovers!
With his new evil Ninninger Mavro leaves Leftovers to fade into nothing but just as Saitama is about to throw Leftovers out Wrong (Since I hate Right just as much as everyone else hates Leftovers I'm calling him Wrong from now on as well) saves him and gets the two out of there. We then cut back to Kyuemon finishing the exposition dump about how Leftovers will be reduced to nothing unless Dark Akaninger is destroyed. Yet the three look horrified for some reason I'd personally break out a Piñata but that's just me.
Back at their base the two groups try to come up with a plan to save Leftovers but are coming up dry. The Toqgers tell the Niningers to stay back while they take care of it but they insist on coming as well and so they do. Meanwhile Leftovers wakes up to see Wrongs punchable Justin Bieber face and the two talk and bond about how hopelessly stupid they are. After some banter between the two groups of competent team members we cut back to Dark Akaninger starting to cover the world in darkness. Kyuemon expresses his concerns about interference but Mavro's got it covered, he recreated the Shadow Line Generals with additional Ninja skills to guard the area. Kyuemon then takes off to make sure his check from Toei doesn't bounce and leaves with Wanyūdō.
The two reds manage to reach Mavro and Dark but Dark attacks and overpowers the two. The others manage to get past the Shadow Line Clones with their own varying degrees of stupidity including leaving Schwartz to being BOILED ALIVE, DAMN! The two reds actually hold their own against Dark, but before Marvo can interfere Akira (who thankfully has stoped using his "This is where I die" catchphrase) takes him on instead. Elsewhere Kyuemon sends Wanyūdō to attack the city to collect fear energy but are stoped by a loud and powerful battlecry!
No no; it's time for the Early bird cameo of the new team, the Zyuohgers who are so badass they make quick work of Wanyūdō in less time it takes to nuke a Hot-pocket. But like all good things this appearance of the 40th Anniversary team must come to an end as we go back to the two clown troops calling themselves Sentai. Dark is beating Wrong and Leftovers like a drum telling Leftovers that if he dies he goes with him. The teams finally catch up with the Niningers firing the Toqgers cannon at Dark while imagining what Leftovers hates, which of course reduces our Badass villain Ranger Clone; into a pepper that Leftovers then destroys with an "I AM A MAN" punch.
My hatred of this resolution knows no bounds!
But as if a sign of mercy from the Emperor himself Leftovers fades away into nothingness.
Yep, no going back now Leftovers's dead and all's well that ends well.
Nope, you think you'll be rid of this dipshit so easily? Not while there's still some of your faith in humanity I can squash!
Just when I though he wouldn't show up and this movie might actually be tolerable Old Ninja shows up again and somehow, don't ask me how, brings Leftovers back with the power of IMAGINATION!!!!!! Now you might be thinking that this is where I'll use the Deadfall clip of Nick Cage screaming "Fuck" as loud and over the top as he can. But no, this plot point is so dumb, so infuriating and so stupid I cannot express my anger properly. So thus I leave this task to a true master of anger. Take it away Ren.

For a recap here's Part 1and 2. Now to talk about our heroes starting from the suits to the people who filled them out. As most of you know Jetman was heavily inspired by Science Ninja team Gatchaman. However they also seem to have taken a note from pre flashpoint Superman with the underwear outline on the males suits. Which while it works for Supes it just doesn't work for the male Jetmen. While the red against blue helps to balance out Superman's colors because it's their color against white it makes the briefs pop out more and make it more obvious and distracting. The girls however get skirts and it works better for them. The helmets help show what their birds are and help sell the Gatchaman homage.
The mechs are also pretty cool, their primary mech Jet Icarus is composed of five bird themed fighter jets and comes with a variety of weapons which makes sense for a government created Sentai team. I especially like the gold chest plate shaped like a bird with its wings spread out, it just looks cool. Their second mech Jet Garuda is a bit of a departure with its Osiris esc bird head instead of a humanoid head. It took some getting used to but it did grow on me. Like all great mechs these two can combine, becoming Great Icarus. The final form looks awesome however I just have to wonder what happened to the spare parts left over from the primary two mechs. Is it like Optimus Prime's trailer and just vanish into the void until the fight is over?
Last but not least there's the AI mech Tetra boy. It's fast, punchy and desperately needs to switch to Decaf. It can also turn into a four barrel cannon for Jet Icarus. Now that we're done with the mechs and suit designs time to talk about their handlers, starting from my favorite to my least favorite. And yes I have to agree with the majority and admit that my favorite Jetman is Yuki Gai.
This guy was cool, uncompromising and knew what he wanted and how to get it. Now yeah he did change as the show went on, mostly learning to work with Ryu, that Kaori just wasn't the right match for him and just general compassion for humanity. He was always the one to call out Ryu's bullshit and point out when the team just wasn't working. He was one of the more competent and stronger members of the team and his development was great. Sad to say his final moments were a wake up call and a cold reminder that not every hero just dies in battle. Now to go into any more detail would be redundant as anyone who saw the Jetman tribute episode of Gokaiger can tell you exactly what happened. I think this episode shows just how much Gai changed and how important he was to his team.
Next is Raita, the second (technically third) yellow Senshi who was bulkier then his teammates. Raita was one of the more relatable members, though that may just be because his and Gai's arc seem to borrow the most from the monomyth. He at least had "boon from the goddess", "call to adventure", "refusal of the call" and "master of two worlds" down pat. Despite not wanting to get involved with this nonsense once he did he progressed with flying colors. He still deployed his pacifism since like Gai and Ryu he also had feelings for Kaori but he knew to keep his nose out of the love triangle bullshit and mostly sat back and watched the fireworks with Ako. The two seemed to hang out with each other the most and seem to be good buddies, with Ako usually helping Raita train and eat with him when the drama gets too overwhelming. All in all he was a good strongman for the team and was a good reminder that people don't need to look like GQ models and be a complete asshat to be a hero, he was just a good guy to hang with and an all around gentle giant.
Next is Ako, the light blue lass who always had her eyes on herself, sometimes to her determent. Now that last bit was mostly due to Vyram; the best example was with Diamond Dimension when it used its spell to drive peoples greed to insane levels. Though aside from that she was about as balanced as Raita, never one to get directly involved in the drama and more prone to snark. Though she was definitely a kind person who wore her heart on her sleeve, the best example was with her old teddy bear being turned into Trash Dimension and her trying to help him find a place to belong, also when she started to form a friendship with Dan, one of the bird men who brought Jet Garuda to avenge their world that fell to Vyram. She looked out for #1 but not at the expense of everyone.
Then comes Kaori, dear dear Kaori. Yeah since she's so low on here I really did not care for her. Now if she would have been fine on her own if this were a normal Sentai however her problems are tied in with Ryu in that she mostly helped to perpetuate the love triangle that lasted more then it needed too on the show. Though yes she did change considerably from when she started, she was thrust into circumstances that her upbringing didn't prepare her for, military service, hand to hand combat as well as the all too real possibility of dying in combat. Normally I would like her development but again she gets dragged down by the love triangle as when it looked like Ryu and Gai looked like they were ready to put their differences aside she would show up, remind that she's trying to get into Ryu's pants and BAM the two are trying to kill each other all over again. On top of that whenever Gai tried to be nice and help Kaori like when her fear caused her to temporarily become paralyzed she instead sided with Ryu's jackass behavior and agreed with him proclaiming that they're warriors of justice first and people second. She just came off as a doormat for a hypocritical, self righteous, self destructive asshole.
This finally leads me to Ryu, our Red Ranger and resident asshole.

but I have so much more to dissect with this guy. Now unlike Right or Takaharu; Ryu's dickish behavior is actually understandable and explainable so yeah Ryu is still better then the last two reds I named but not by much. It all started when Rie died because let's face it if your beloved died right in front of you when you tried to save them of course you'd start to lose it and lash out at people it's how grief often works. In fact Ryu pretty much went through all five during the first half of the show. As expected he was devastated when Aia told him what happened and was at first going about how he couldn't defeat Vyram until Aia and him went to find the other four.
When he was trying to recruit Kaori and Gai he was lashing out unless they cooperated, he was begging to stay with the illusion of Rie when he was in a delusional state after he learned that she was Maria, and finally was forced to come to terms and accept that fact when he resolved to save her. After words he did try to mix better with the team but there were moments when he relapsed into his jackass behavior. The best example was when he faked betraying the team to sneak his way onto the Vyrock. The problem with this plan? He never told anyone about this plan, now I get not telling his teammates to make the act convincing but he didn't even bother to tell the plan to Aia; his commanding officer who would have no problem carrying on the ruse as well as making sure that the four didn't try to kill Ryu for the apparent betrayal. And besides it's not like keeping secrets and faking betrayals ever came back to bite anyone in the ass

YES THEY DO!!!
Even after Rie died he continued his hypocrisy by going off on his own to kill Radiguet as revenge. And yet somehow after all this he still wound up moving past Rie's death and got together with Kaori, what? Now I know why that was added, because Ryu and Kaori's actors got married a few months before that scene was shot but in story it just seems like the asshole got rewarded for being an asshole. Eh whatever; Ryu just be grateful that I saw Right and Takaharu first pal. However everything I said about Ryu that can't be traced back to his character can be traced back to Aia.
Now as far as mentors go Aia is far better then a certain Tiki head and Old Ninja I could mention.
She did also set the ground for future female mentors in the franchise ( all two of them!) But she still does have her problems from my perspective. I already covered how she handled Ryu and Gai slugging it out but whenever Ryu was acting against the teams welfare she just seemed to tune out mostly just wagging her finger and shaking her head at best. She seems to share similar problems with Captain Mitchell from Lightspeed Rescue but like Mitchell she did get better after her introduction. Her highlights include training Raita, Kaori and Ako in martial arts, assisting the team with building and updating their arsenal, standing up to an asshole General who was trying to replace the Jetmen with his Vr trained rookies, and piloting the Jet Garuda to get revenge on a monster that took her body for a joyride. All in all a pretty decent mentor, not as bad as some I could name but not as good as others either, like at least in the top fifteen for me.
All in all Jetman is a B+ series in my books. The villains ranged from interesting to one note, the heroes were incredibly diverse (Gai from Gokaiger calling the Jetmen the most eccentric Sentai) and has a degree of maturity that we unfortunately don't see too much of nowadays in Sentai and can be enjoyable if you overlook the many flaws. Some people say that this is Inoue's best work and from what I've seen I tend to agree. Going back to my comparison between him and Frank Miller this would be Inoue's Dark Knight returns and after the success of Jetman he would continue to work on Sentai until it came to a crashing halt with Ohranger, but that's a story for another day. Now for next time I have to decide, do I want a shrunken to the face or to be run over by a train?

Where we last left our heroes, Devius has awakened and chased them off with just his morning breath. The Kyoryugers took the worst of it and are recovering at the Hyper Ressha Terminal's hospital. Yep since the first part of the movie was mostly spent around the Kyoryugers, time for the Toqgers to get the spotlight, oh goody. Conductor informs the team that Gabutyra and the rest of the Zyudenchi are staying at the terminal in their giant battery forms. The team decides that even though they can't win against Devius on their own they still have to fight, otherwise the world is screwed. Even if they could they can't charge over to Devius until the Resshas are repaired, so until then, we have ourselves some character scenes. Which I won't spoil for you readers, because I honestly think you need to see it for yourselves, it's a scene that shows what Toqger could have been if more time, thought and care went into writing it. Now I'm not attacking the writer of Toqger Yasuko Kobayashi here; I mean when she was writing Toqger she had a lot on her plate at the time. In addition to this she was also writing the anime adaptations of "Attack on Titan" and "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure", two anime adaptations of highly beloved and acclaimed manga that if executed badly would have most likely dealt serious damage to her carrier, so when it came between the three it's pretty clear which one had to be given less priority. I mean let's face it, Attack on Titan and Jojo's source materials aren't even over yet so there's more wiggle room and can still go on. Toqger on the other hand would only last for one year as apposed to the others which have been going on for much longer. I hope you get what I'm getting at. Oh jeez I forgot about these two.
Yeah this is Joyful Knight Candelira
and her second banana, Fun-filled Spy Luckyrou.
These two were originally part of the Deboss army until they turned good at the end of the series and now work with the Kyoryugers. Them and their cartoon sound effects are completely useless in this movie, though seriously why are they making so many over the top noises were they hanging around with Michael Winslow?
Now for the Toqgers to also give the raspberry, not to Dark Helmet but to Devius as the next morning they roll out for Devius' lair with the amalgamated Zyudenchi. Where we see President Ice Cream Bunny thanking Torin for his cooperation.
"And when this is over I can go up to Heaven with Snuffy."
Torin was also a creation of Deboss and the Kyoryuger's mentor before he was killed towards the end of the series. The team heads out but of course things aren't that easy, Devius knows they're coming and using the powers of Darkness resurrects several Shadow Kaijin to keep the Toqgers from reaching him before he fully awakens. Table and Chair Shadow are the first at bat flipping a junction point to try and get the trains off course. Akira manages to reset the switch and the rest continue while he holds off the Brothers. Next up are two Kurainers piloted by these two.

Hikari, Kagura, Mio and Tokatti hold them down while Right crashes the Ressha with the Zyudenchi at Devius' force field, destroying it and granting him access to the crashed Station. Right makes it to Devius just as Daigo shows up to give him back up. Akira manages to beat the brothers but is out numbered by two more Shadow Kaijin.

The other Toqgers aren't doing much better. The girls not only have to deal with Hammer Shadow
but also Chain Shadow.
The guys are getting kicked in the head by Fence Shadow as well as Vacuum Shadow.
No you're not high they did mix an elephant with a vacuum cleaner. This thing was also featured in one of the worst episodes of the show as well as one of the worst mech intro episodes I've ever seen.
Even immobile Devius is throwing Right and Daigo around like rag-dolls even using Sith lightning on the two; not even joking here the only thing missing is him screaming about UNLIMITED POWERRRRRRRRR! He then demonstrates said unlimited power by fully awakening, using his GCI tentacles to attack them and then drives the two through a steel door. All seems lost but the Kyoryugers show up to help the rest of the team, Utchy backing up Akira, Amy and Ian helping Mio and Kagura; and Nossan and Souji backing up Tokatti and Hikari. Meanwhile the two reds can't make a dent in Devius, even Right's ungodly stupid Hyper Toq 1 from barely helps, it just barely manages to keep him alive as Devius knocks him so hard it forces him to power down and Daigo protects Right from the killing blow by transforming into his own Battlizer, Carnival Mode which Devius takes down in one shot. He then hands Right the Carnival Zyudenchi as he manages to get Devius in a full nelson. Right then loads up the Daikaiten Cannon with the Battery and prepares to fire. The other Rangers however are out matched by the six Shadow Kaijin and are about to be killed. Daigo tells Right to nut up and fire the damn thing, Right then transforms the Zyudenchi into the Hyper Kyoryuger Ressha and fires at Devius.
MAKANSA.... MAKAKASAPOP..... MEKKASAPPA! Oh, to hell with it. SPECIAL BEAM CANNON!
But instead of what happened in DBZ Daigo manages to survive the blast and the rest of the Rangers manage to combine their attacks to take out the Shadow Kaijin. The two Reds manage to escape the collapsing Station and make it back to the others. But of course Devius isn't dead yet and grows, he's about to kill them when the group gets some expected back up.
Yep, the long awaited return of KyoryuCyan, Grey, Violet and Silver.
No seriously, where the hell were these guys while all this was going on? Apparently the only reason they got involved is because Candelira and Luckyrou told them what was going on, but wait shouldn't those two chunkheads have told them sooner so, you know the stituation might have been resolved easier and with the chance of them all coming back alive? But then again what do you expect from those two, actually be compitent? Yeah I guess that would be too much.
But the Toqgers get some really unexpected back up. The Shadow Line generals, hell Nero even does his own little entry pose.
Don't worry Nero we still think you're cool.
Yeah I honestly think this is a first here folks, the current Villain faction helping the two teams defeat the main villain in a crossover movie. And no I don't count AbareKiller helping out in the Dekaranger Abaranger crossover. First off he was a ranger (an evil one granted)but he did reform and was considered to be a part of the team before he died. Anyway the reason why Zett is helping is pretty simple, they want revenge. So the Kyoryugers and Toqgers do their team transformations the groups combined their powers and finally destroyed Devius. WAIT WHAT? After Devius was kicking so much ass, after nearly killing the Kyoryugers just by fireing his laser beams he gets taken out just because twenty people fired all at once, the dude that made Deboss, the mosnter that whiped out the dinosaurs, just got beaten because of a really big blast?
Yeah I know that's how these movies tend to play out but usually the enemies in those other movies are just remnants of the last season's army's or at least affiliated with them in someway, but Devius was the guy that literally created the Deboss army, so I kind of expected a bit more from this guy then just the standard group final blast (granted this wasn't exactly the conventional group blast with the inclusion of Zett and the rest of the Shadow Line) but you get where I'm coming from right? A god like being should not be taken down this easily. Sure since a Big bad was involved with taking him down I can kind of buy it but the principal of it all just doesn't sit well with me. It also doesn't exactly make the Kyoryugers look all that good if it requires the power of their successors Big Bad to help take down the creator of their Big Bad you know what I mean Vern? Hell this whole movie seems kind of schizophrenic like that the first half of the movie seems dedicated to making the Kyoryugers look good and the second half for the Toqgers, hell the Toqgers seem to be better written here then the show, odd. So yeah Kars is dead, the teams make their goodbyes and all's well that ends well. So in my opinion, this movie was okay but had some problems. Thankfully the more annoying parts of Toqger didn't show up all that often in this movie, if even Daigo was groaning about how much of an idiot Right is this movie would have sunk like a stone. However to seemingly make up for this the problems of Kyoryuger seemed to crop up more often, we only really see Daigo interacting with the Toqger cast; the other five main members were mostly there to help with the fights and the four extra rangers literally only show up for the final exchange with Devius. Speaking of which they built up Devius as this ultra Omega level Badass that could wipe out planets like it was nothing, just to end up with a knockoff off a far better villain that the movies writer also worked on. And yeah Kars is a far superior villain then this cosmic cupcake. Just watch or read Battle Tendency for evidence of that alone. On that note at least this movie give me plenty of chances to make Jojo references without having to mention the Persona series. Which I'll get back to covering next time, unless something else comes along during that time.

For a recap on my thoughts so far, here they are. Where we last left off our Ninja destroyed several buildings, slaughtered thousands of people and are rightfully being detained by the police. We then cut to Mach getting the crap beaten out of him by Sangou, but he just leaves saying that Mach will die eventually. So.... why not just kill him now? OH YEAH there is no good reason. Yeah it's not like you work for Shocker or anything and getting rid of a Rider THAT CLEARLY STANDS NO CHANCE AGAINST YOU would benefit you and your bosses or anything down the line, but there goes me and my logic again.
Speaking of not making sense we then shift the focus of this crossover to Shinnosuke who is confused at not only everyone's attitudes starting to take a turn for the tyrannical but also the higher ups decision to making sure that the Ninningers fry like bacon in the chair, even going so far as to give them higher priority then the Roidmudes. But then again them escaping their cells didn't exactly help Shinnosuke's case.
There were Ninningers here, they're gone now.
Hell even Krim is all for carrying a torch in this proverbial witch hunt. Granted his reasoning is a little bit more sane, he thinks that the Ninningers are dangerous since they come from another world, which could lead to some serious problems if they are not dealt with.
In other words the universe doesn't like its peas mixed with its porridge.
Shinnosuke still wants to try and help them by sending them back to their world by hunting down #089 but Krim says its no dice until the Ninningers are dealt with and the people of their world come first and the needs of the mango out way the needs of the figs or something like that. Shinnosuke walks out to get some air and think when.... oh for god's sake.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
GEE DICK LET'S FIGURE THIS OUT! Was the mansion always there, no THEN IT IS AS SUSPICIOUS AS ALL HELL YOU SCHMUCK! Seriously how did nobody notice a mansion teleporting outside of a frigging police station?! You'd think that maybe somebody would notice something this frigging big that sticks out like Godzilla's thumb. Hell even a drunk, blindfolded Ray Charles could tell you that this doesn't fit here! Ugh anyway because even Shinnosuke isn't stupid enough to miss something this suspicious (granted it's right in front of his face but still better late then never) he checks it out. Inside the Ninningers are panicking over Tsumuji fading away and they can't find where the enchantment under the sea dance is to fix him. Their Grandpa is vanishing too but he's less then helpful.
I could tell you where to find him so you can kill him faster and hopefully save us all but I think you should find him for yourselves because, well let's face it I'm dying before you all either way so I might as well take everyone else with me.
So after Old Ninja moonwalks out of there (seriously) the team walks out to find #089 but of course since Old Ninja is a psychotic old coot, he gave them nothing to work with and are pretty much up the creak without a paddle. Making matters worse Shinnosuke tracks down Takaharu at the docks. Shinnosuke is of course conflicted between his duty as a police officer to bring in the Ninningers on his superiors orders and his duty as a Kamen Rider, to help those he can who desperately need it. So of course he decides to help Takaharu and his family get back home. But then Otta and other officers show up and the two decide to book it, leaving Kiriko and Krim behind. Meanwhile Cloud discovers some workers who are under the effects of Buruburu's slime, he's then attacked by the Yokai from behind. Cloud manages to transform and hold him off until Kasumi, Fuuka and Nagi provide him with back up. We then cut to our red heroes not having a clue in their heads about where to find #089. The two then get attacked by the Hitokarage.

The two make an escape thanks to Kiriko and her getaway van. She gives Shinnosuke a picture with two familiar images on it.
Oh god, not them again.
Kyuu found the picture of the silver haired man online, he apparently went by the name Dr D and was researching something at an odd research facility, and that it exploded 40 years ago and Dr D went up in flames with it screaming about how he found a way to "return the era to zero" as it were. How that website knew about any of that is beyond me and this whole situation doesn't make a whole lot of sense but let's move on. Kyuu also says that there have been reports of his Ghost wandering around the abandoned site so the trio decide that's where #089 is hiding. At the site the trio are attacked by a familiar monster; Hiruchameleon aka General Black of Gel-Shocker.
Now the one hang up I have about this is that he's wearing the wrong emblem on his belt, as I said General Black worked for Gel-Shocker, not Shocker Classic. I know that both organizations were essentially the same thing since the Great Leader was running the show for both groups but I just want some consistency here. Also I think Gel Shocker had a cooler emblem. I mean snakes make things cooler by default.
Using his camouflage powers he nearly choked Shinnosuke until Mach chased him off. Go powers down telling them about his encounter with Sangou.
I think this "Abandoned laboratory" is actually one of Toei's prop warehouses. You can see three of the cloths that were most likely used by the Greeed from OOO and that weird viewing globe thing that the Vyram used in Jetman and Dr Samejima used to get to Nejirejia in Megaranger.
Anyway Go apparently did some research on Dr D and discovered the Double Riders. Even though at this point in continuity Shinnosuke already encountered Kouta Kazuraba AKA Kamen Rider Gaim in their crossover movie. But there is a possible explanation for why they don't know about the past Riders, but I'll discus that when we get to that plot point. The most interesting part is that Go mentions that while the Double Riders fought Shocker, there was no mention of a third Rider.
Again, during the time of the Original Shocker/ Gel-Shocker. V3 didn't come around until Destron was running around.
Go then theorizes that the world is being distorted, not only due to the appearance of the Yokai and Ninningers but also that of Sangou as well as the people's subtle personality changes. It all becomes clear when Shinnosuke notices the Shocker emblem in Go's photo and he starts to put the pieces together.
Though I may have to call BS on this one, especially if this really is a former Shocker facility. I may have very little experience watching the original series, but if I do know one thing about Shōwa era Rider series; it's this. Rider finds base, Great Leader makes it go boom like he was Michael Bay. So yeah for this facility to be this intact is nothing short of a miracle.
Or the Great Leader may have been waiting on this one for some dumb reason since we see Turtle Bazooka firing at the base with everything he's got.
Again, Turtle Bazooka was a Destron Monster not a Shocker Classic monster. Hell in this crossover he isn't even wearing any emblem on his waist.
Once the base is destroyed the we see the other four Ninningers struggling with Buruburu, and are forced to pwer down when they are hit by a sneak attack by some Hitokarage and Roidmude #076. Suddenly the Trailer Cannon shows up and sends several Shift Cars out to protect the Ninningers from the Hitokarage's attack. Yep Shinnosuke, Kiriko, Takaharu and Go made it just in time. Yep apparently Krim used Tridoron to get the four out of the building before it was completely destroyed. Wow, way to keep us in suspense guys, M. Night Shyamalan would be overjoyed by this. -_- Shinnosuke even figured out who is really behind all of this nonsense. The revived Buruburu reveals himself to be Dr D aka Roidmude #089. But the Roidmudes aren't the true masterminds, and if anyone with a frontal lobe was paying attention you have most likely figured it out for your self, spoilers it was Shocker.
Yeah as if the old monsters, and the giant emblem weren't enough of a tell, but if you still needed me tell you this then congratulations, you ate paint chips as a kid.
OH GOD HIS CROTCH IS THE REAL MASTERMIND RUN!
No no, that's just the Shocker emblem as a belt buckle, the Great Leader loves to communicate through these things. He then explains that Dr D did die 40 years ago but they had enough of his cells left over to recreate him through the Roidmude. Hold on stop, time for some major deconstruction here.
This is a screenshot of the Original Dr D from the original Kamen Rider show back in 1973. In the episode he was featured in all he was doing was researching how to defeat Kamen Rider 1. Keep this in mind as the special says that he dies two years later doing research about how to rewrite history.
Also keep in mind that Great Leader here says that Dr D worked for Shocker, again time to call this into question as when Shocker was transitioning to Gel-Shocker part of the change involved killing every single remaining Shocker member. Stupid yes but it did happen. So yeah if Dr D did work for Shocker he should have been another body on the pile, but from the picture up there we can clearly see the Gel-Shocker emblem so we know that Dr D was around during that time, meaning Dr D was recruited after the culling of Shocker. Next, the time of his death, he supposedly died 40 years ago, but if he were still loyal to the Great Leader that would have meant he was working for Black Satan, not Shocker, and yes I know that all of the Great Leader's organizations are still technically Shocker since they were still lead by the Great Leader but still this special says Shocker so I'm calling it out! Now for the major elephant in the room, how in the hell did Roidmude #089 copy someone who has been dead for 40 years by their own admission? Now I know that there was a case in Drive about a Roidmude copying a dead person.
This is Volt, aka Roidmude #024, he was copying a person who had been dead for an indeterminate amount of time.
Now the major difference is that the Roidmudes have been in hiding for at least 15 years, so #024 could have copied him while he was alive. Bringing this back to my point about #089, Roidmudes can only copy living subjects, so how did this one copy someone who has been dead for DECADES?! Maybe it could be explained that the Great Leader kept extensive visual and audio records of all of those who worked for him, whether willing or coerced, and he kept several DNA samples from like Shocker health exams or something. But it's never stated, all they give us is that some of Dr D's DNA was kept on ice and #089 somehow was able to completely recreate himself from that. But I'm sticking to my theory as it would be the only way this makes any sense. Also, for that matter, how in the hell did Shocker manage to get their hands on #089 in the first place? My theory is that Shocker was studying the Roidmudes (as well as every other evil group that came after them that wasn't lead by the Great Leader) and discovered the Roidmudes' copy ability, captured one and had #089 recreate Dr D from the visual records that I mentioned before. But I'm done deconstructing how this doesn't make any sense in regards to continuity I'm just going to say the Great Leader stole the Continuity gem from Deadpool and move on.
And remember kids, when a dude in a really stupid hat offers you chimichangas for some time with your special stone, kick him in his special stones and take the damn chimichangas and have yourself a merry little fiesta. There's my cameo gimme my pay.
Yeah hows about hell to the no tumor mouth! I already have two 4th wall breaking assholes to deal with and at least they don't point guns at me when I get on their badside.

See what I mean, also because I run this show I can just shut you out. Bye bye; hope Ryan Reynolds doesn't mess you up as badly as last time. Back to this madness, #089 says that using his body as the foundation they were able to finish the original Dr D's dimensional distorter. Takaharu figures that destroying #089 will fix everything but #089 says that he's achieved a new power after absorbing the Sealing Shuriken that Izayoi gave him, becoming Shocker Buruburu.
Meet the new boss, same as the old. Also get used to seeing this guy in future crossovers involving Shocker, if you have the emblem odds are good they'll use you again and again and again.
Now with the true enemy exposed our heroes transform, the bad guys get reinforcements from Turtle Bazooka, Hiruchameleon and some Shocker Combatants.
COBRA KAI, STRIKE FIRST, STRIKE HARD, NO MERCY!
Thus the battle begins. It seems to be going well until Shocker Buruburu demonstrates being a embodiment of fear with his Terrible Pressure power. He might not have a Sinestro Corp ring but he does do the job of immobilizing the heroes in a field of pure terror. Drive then transforms into his Super Form, Type Formula to break out of the AT Field using his super speed and attack Shocker Buruburu. Not one to be outdone Mach transforms into Type Dead Heat to help Drive. With the distraction the Ninningers combine to form a freaking tornado to slice Shocker Buruburu to pieces, the seven then combine their finishers to send Shocker Buruburu to the scrapyard, destroy his core and collect the original Buruburu's sealing shuriken. So UFOmaru, Tsumuji and Old Ninja show up to take the Ninningers back to their world, good-byes are exchanged and we cut to Sangou who says that #089 was just a prototype for their history revision machine. Which finally could explain why everyone was acting so weird and why Shinnosuke didn't know about the previous Riders. As we see in the movie Sangou was sent back in time to kill the double Riders and thus the world would fall under Shocker's rule and every Rider that follows the originals would be a Shocker Rider. It could also explain the differences in continuity seen here. This whole time they could have been in an alternate world, not the Rider's prime world if the universe uses the Multiverse theory. This could have been a alternate universe created from the invention of the History revision device which generated the wormhole that Izayoi used to get to this world and create Buruburu as part of the plan of the Alliance of Shocker, the Roidmudes and the Gengetsu army. The Great Leader really did steal the Continuity gem and this is the effects slowly affecting the world. Whatever, this crossover, had some problems. There was very little character interaction pieces aside from the ones with Shinnosuke and Takaharu, but then again Ninninger was only five episodes into its runs o the limited characterization is a little more tolerable and understandable. To make matters worse the franchise history seemed to get kicked in the head more then a few times as I mentioned before and I honestly can't help but think that the "history manipulator" was just a convient plot device for Riku Sanjo to cover his tracks. Could you tell this and Drive were written by the same guy that wrote the screenplay for this thing?
For those who hate Drive, you now have more evidence in your case regarding the flimsy quality of the storytelling engine (not pun intended) of the show.
But there were some concepts that I think were executed far better then the Gaim/Toqger crossover that we got last time. Like for example there was a small scene of the villains interacting. Granted it lasted less then a minute but it was there and maybe next time we can get some more with the next generation of bad guys. I also liked how much better the Gengetsu army's methodology interacted with the Roidmudes, and when the Rider Monsters grew to fight Shurikenjin at least it made some semblance of sense. The scenes trying to tie into the movie was questionable but at least it showed Shocker doing a test run on their latest take over the world scheme, and at least this time travel plot doesn't involve Den-O. And when we see the Ninningers interacting with Drive to fight the Rider Robot thing we at least know how they know each other if history has been altered. All in all, not bad but definitely one you need to switch your brain off for. I will return you to your regularly scheduled Persona retrospective next time.
