Tokusatsu Review: Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Final Part 1: Kamen Rider Infinite (Spoilers)

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Another year, another Kamen Rider crossover movie that doesn't make you want to rip your hair out. Which is good because just like last year's Heisei Generations it's actually cannon with this year's series; Build taking place between episodes 14 and 15 and before the True ending movies for Ex-Aid that I reviewed last month. So if you haven't caught up on Build then watch and come back because this not only fills in some plot-holes but also introduces certain elements that were reintroduced into the show proper. Also, in case you forgot here's the links to last year's Heisei Generations movie.

Part 1

Part 2

http://ondavidsbrain.blogspot.com/2017/08/tokusatsu-review-kamen-rider-heisei.html

Now that you're hopefully all caught up we open on Sento waking up from a dream where he; as Build comes across Ex-Aid and extracts his element after taking out Paradox. Puzzling to be sure but here comes a quick pick me up in the form of two new Fullbottles, Doctor and Game. He asks Misora what's with the double deal but she doesn't know anymore then he does and according to her watch it's "fuck this shit O'clock" and she takes a nice long nap.

In the topside Cafe Nascita, the usual shenanigans are going on. As he and Banjo Ryuga (Kamen Rider Cross-Z) shoot the shit Banjo tells Sento that the Ex-Aid bottle was real leaving Sento more confused then he'd care to admit. Sento gets an alert of a Smash attack and rushes to the scene finding  off color Bugster foot solders instead. Sento and Banjo transform into Build and Cross-Z but find that they can't damage the Bugsters, until Sento uses the Doctor and Game Fullbottles to gain the power of Ex-Aid, and just like Decade when Build uses Legendary Rider Fullbottles he takes on the appearance of the Rider along with the powers which he uses to wipe out the Bugsters. As Banjo tries to use a new power up Build gets knocked out by a blue gear monster who takes the Ex-Aid bottles.

Banjo chases the monster to the Dam where he finds a giant metal hand that the monster calls Enigma, which according to him can grant him access to other dimensions.

Admittingly it's not the most conspicuous way of traveling between worlds.
Though it's probably just as ridiculous any method I've encountered so far.
But hey if it gets the job done then who cares really?
After trying and failing to explain the multiverse theory to Cross-Z the Gear monster decides to give him a first hand experience and chucks him into Enigma. Build finally catches up to the monster who runs away after shorting out. We cut over to the main Toei Earth where we find Banjo dumped into a literal land of confusion as he sees the Skywall is gone. But his confusion is quickly replaced with horror once the two worlds start to collide; both figuratively and literally!
Now I'm no doctor but you don't need to have played "Operation" to tell you that if one of those is cracked, you've got some major problems.
It's not just our heroes who notice Earth's extra landscape but also Rule 63 Madokami, a whiny ghostbuster, a hobo with an underwear fixation and a teacher with a silly hairdo. Earthquakes start happening on Main Earth releasing Nebula Gas as well as the Blue Bugsters from before that go on a rampage infecting anyone they come across making more Bugsters. After the title card Emu and Kujo make it to the scene. Emu tries to transform but since Build stole Ex-Aid's elements he can't. Thankfully Hiiro, Taiga and Kujo are still active so they transform to fight off the forces while Emu, Nico and Poppy evacuate the civilians.

After the Bugsters are taken care of the riders find the one responsible, a red version of the blue gear monster from Build's world called Right Kaiser. Funky Kong admits that not only is he responsible for the Nebula Bugsters but that they'll serve as the energy for Enigma which is drawing the earth together so closely that both sides can see the alternate Earths in their skies!

As if an apocalyptic event like that wasn't bad enough; Hiiro, Taiga and Kujo can't transform again due to Enigma somehow disrupting their Gamer Drivers and Gashats, but Funky's still in tip top shape. He does the smart thing and tries to kill them in their powerless state but Kamen Rider Ghost shows up and saves the CR team forcing Funky to peace out after telling them that the world is doomed in 24 hours. But since they don't have Jack Bauer they're pretty much screwed. At a makeshift shelter Emu thanks Takeru and Onari (who for some reason is dressed like Jigen from Lupin the 3rd with an afro) for their help but Banjo arrives asking about the Skywall and Emu thinks he's Build since he sees him wearing the Build Driver.

He stops when he starts to hear Parado's voice whose currently shaking down Sento to return Ex-Aid's power. Apparently Parado's been trying to find Build for 2 years when it's later revealed that he's only been gone for a week in the main earth. Blood Stark shows up to do what pretty much every main show villain is reduced to in these movies, play the exposition buddy. In this case he explains about the Nebula Bugsters, that they're Bugsters infected with Nebula Gas and that only the power of Ex-Aid's riders can destroy them. He also tells Parado that he can communicate with Emu by holding the Game Fullbottle to his ear like a phone, how he knows it can do that is never explained.
No, this is the boss DiavoOOOOOH DAMN IT YOU KNOW WHO I AM NOW I HAVE TO KILL YOU!!!
It does work and the two compare notes with Ex-Aid's group deciding that the Nebula Bugsters take top priority. Back with Sento and Parado; Stark tells them about a thesis paper that talked about using the Skywall to gain access to parallel worlds published by a former Touto government researcher named Kaisei Mogami and that he might be the mastermind behind the world merger. He leave behind the Robot and Phoenix Fullbottles as a little gift before walking off to cash his cameo check. Speaking of villains back on the main earth the God Dan Kuroto's been released from his tablet to take on the Nebula Bugsters using the Kamen Rider Build Gashat that he made at the end of the series. It does work allowing him to transform into Genm Level X, but when it powers down after only 23 seconds he just devolves into a Tom and Jerry cartoon, shocking I know.

It's not much but it's a start and only after Onari plays into Kuroto's God complex does he get started on creating more Build Gashats for the others. Back on Earth B Sento gets the info about Kaisei from Gentoku. Apparently he discovered the Bugster virus 10 years prior and used that as the basis for his Parallel worlds theory and began his research into Enigma. But the government obviously thought he was full of crap so Kaisei left to work for Nanba Heavy Industries. This information was provided to the Touto Government by his old assistant, Takumi Katsuragi.

While he was with Nanba; Kaisei discovered a way to utilize the Bugster virus in conjunction with Nebula Gas to create the Kaiser system. However to power Enigma he needed much more of the Bugster virus to power it. Afterwords, after Katsuragi helped him complete these two devices Kaisei disappeared with the blueprints. This is confirmed when Sento discovers the research from Takumi's research files, including his many visits to Ex-Aid's world using Enigma. With this piece of information Sento learns that Takumi was the Build who stole Ex-Aids elements.

How he had that dream is unexplained (Spoilers it was a repressed memory as I mentioned in my recap special Sento is an amnesiac Takumi) for now. The reason why Takumi would go to all this trouble was most likely because he knew of Kaisei's plan to merge the two worlds together and tried to stop it. Because he knew that if Kaisei succeeds then both worlds would be destroyed. So with this bombshell this seems like a good place to take a break for now. So come back next time as we continue and answer even more questions with that beautiful tool known as hindsight, also the highlight of the movie is just around the corner so get hyped!

So here we are at last. Currently the end of the road for the Bioshock franchise. It's been a very crazy and sometimes unsettling ride. Some people are torn about the quality of this DLC but for me the ending sells it just like the main game, warts and all. Sure the music that plays over the ending had to be muted for copyright BS but play it for yourself and have this clip on stand by.

So for everyone who's been watching my little lets play of one of my favorite video game series, thanks.

She came into my life just like everyone else. Little did I know that she was actually going to stick around and would change my life forever. I thought I could keep her safe, obviously that didn't go as planed. I was stupid and went somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. Now she's dead and I'm back at square one as a worthless piece of trash.

So that's what this was all about. I saved Elizabeth again and now we have to make sure that Comstock doesn't walk away alive. For everything that's happened, for everyone who's suffered under him I need to make sure this evil son of a bitch gets exactly what's coming to him. Besides there's a debt I owe Elizabeth and a man always pays his debts promptly. It's time to end this, all of this.

Every time we get a yard ahead Comstock just moves the goalpost to the other side of the goddamn field! So now we need to track the old coot down so we can learn how to get the bird off our backs and finally get out of this place. But because of course there is we need Lady Comstock's fingerprints to actually get into his fortress. So after the longest, bloodiest and most batshit crazy family therapy session ever we finally get into Comstock House. Well it can only go up from here I suppose, after all me and Elizabeth have been through there's nothing that can surprise me now.

Ok, I have no idea what in the hell just happened and I really don't want to know. As long as Fitzroy has her guns and she gives me my airship I could care less. Wait, Dewit, Martyr of the revolution? So there was another me in this world, and he was killed for Fitzroy? No no wait, that's not what happened I, I, I know what happened I know how things went down at the Hall of Heroes. No no wait wait, I just need to focus and get to the factory, meet up with Fitzroy and just get out of this flying hellhole.

Huh, I guess lying to Elizabeth about Paris was a bad idea, go figure. So now here I am in Finkton trying to find this guy Chen Lin so Fitzroy can get her guns for her war on Comstock. From what I can see, I've got a lot of ground to cover to find the girl and the guns. Least I know that the locals won't exactly be turning over the "False Shepard" any time soon. Though they may be more likely to raise an eyebrow over that belching old man and kid I keep running into.

You'd think that once I got the girl that's that, head back to NY, cash my check and drink myself into the grave like I planned. But then a robot gargoyle thing brings my plans literally crashing to the ground. Luckily I know how to make lemonade out of life's lemons so we head to the Prophets' airship, but to get there we need a favor from my old CO back in Wounded Knee, Slade. But Comstock's got his number so I need to punch his ticket before I get the Shock Jockey. After that it's smooth sailing back to New York.

Bring us the girl and wipe away the debt. Simple little rush job on paper right, just get into a flying city, find this girl who happens to be one of the center points of the local religion, get her out of the city and not get yourself killed. But Twiddle-Dee and Twiddle-Dum just kind of forgot to mention that I'm public enemy #1 even though I've never heard of much less set foot on this crazy thing. Oh and they also forgot to mention that this place has a giant robot gargoyle flying around for the sole purpose of making sure the Girl doesn't get out of the city. Well if they wanted to surprise me I'd say it worked, but they really need to work on their sense of humor.

Let's Play Bioshock 2 HD Part 8: DLC Campaigns

I'm not sure what it says about your game when its DLC is the best content in it. But its honestly true, Minervas Den is the best content of BioShock 2 and honestly one of my favorite pieces of DLC period. I get an actual challenge with lack of weapons and offensive Plasmids early on, the Tonic for completing the Protector Trials makes ADAM all the more abundant and satisfying to get and the story is honestly more heartfelt then the main game. On top of that The aesthetics are just right, I feel like I went right back to the first game, the atmosphere, lighting feeling of vulnerability it all comes right back in Minervas Den.

So this is the last of my BioShock 2 Lets Play videos. Thank you all for taking the time to watch. For my next LP videos I'll be covering my blind LP of Ni No Kuni 2. If you're not familiar with the Ni No Kuni games (don't worry it's new, kind of) here's my old written review of the first game.

Well here we are at the last part of the main campaign of BioShock 2. Now we really get God mode, not only is there ammo out the butt we also have the Summon Eleanor Plasmid and Telekinesis 3. I AM DELTA, MASTER OF MAGNET!!! No but seriously we're almost at the end of this; now to tackle the multiplaayyYA HAHA HAHAHAHAAH Oh wow I almost couldn't say that with a straight face. No, no thankfully they cut that from the HD remaster. Now all that's really left is the DLC included in the collection. That'll be for next time however.

So now here we are, we've heard about this place ever since the first game, we've seen this in the "Hunting the Big Sister" demo and... it's just ok. Personally for me this level needed to be more dark, run down and have a much more foreboding atmosphere. Not have a crazy pink variant of the Great Gazoo annoying me and sending easily disposable Splicers if I break his precious toys. Also this is where the excess ammo really hits the gas because from this point on, nothing presents even the slightest bit of a challenge. Oh no wait, that's for the finale of the main campaign.

As for Gil himself, how in the name of Ursula's fat-folds is letting him live the merciful option? I mean look at him!!! He's a giant mutant sea monster who's completely insane who can only live inside of a special sea life tank. I know that if we killed him Lamb could have smashed the tank and let her Little Sisters drain his corpse dry of all of that ADAM but come on! For the sake of the "Savior" play-through I let him live but just like with Stanley any other play though I put the poor bastard out of his misery.

Let me get one thing clear right off the bat. Any other play though Stanley dies like the sniveling, groveling little worm he is! I mean he floods an entire section of Rapture, leaving everyone to die a horrible, terrifying death and yet he tries to play the victim and have me clean up his mess so that Lamb doesn't find out?! NO times 1000000000000 on that front amigo! As for the level itself Sebastian the Crab can take that big song number of his and shove it up his carapace after seeing Dionysus Park.

Hey you all remember the massive amounts of hype around this level? Remember that this level got its own dedicated trailer for Bioshock 2's advertising campaign? Remember how creepy it looked from the trailer, how amped we were for this level? Yeah it's just another level, woooooo. Also it's tight, cramped and has some serious feels if you know where to look. Also we finally get to tangle with the Rumbler Big Daddy and yes this thing kicks like a horse, not as bad as the Rosie's were last game but still just use Telekinesis and you're good to go. Though why do all of the Spider Splicers have the same character model and Yuri Lowenthal voice in this game I don't get it?

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Honestly Paupers Drop is my favorite level in this game. We get a genuinely creepy, claustrophobic location, a hostile atmosphere and its just the right level of length and width of the design of the level itself so that it doesn't overstay its welcome and we don't get bored of the place. Also Grace herself is a better antagonist, we understand her motivations, they're reasonable and the cold sadistic joy she takes in sending Splicers to kill Delta is pretty damn believable. Also this is the only level in the game that has the Rosie Big Daddy, pretty much the only Big Daddy that consistently gives me a challenge.

Let's Play BioShock 2 HD Part 2: Ryan Amusements

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Honestly since the developers already created an amusement park why couldn't they have incorporated some of the elements from the Rapture Carnival from the first game's DLC as parts of Ryan Amusements. I mean as I said only one ride, a gift shop and a restaurant makes for a pretty crap attraction. I mean if Ryan is going to scare kids into never wanting to go to the surface he could at least make some other attractions to generate some more revenue.

Also since this is connected to the Atlantic Express this is one of the oddest parts of Rapture. So, what did Ryan really prioritize indoctrination of Rapture's children instead of Oxygen and food? Also how did Sinclair wind up here to begin with? We know that Lamb is monitoring all of the Bathyspheres as demonstrated with Sammy and his girlfriends failed attempt to leave and the Atlantic Express station was under her control so how did Sinclair get there in the first place?

So now we move on to the black sheep of the BioShock franchise. While I most certainly will admit that compared to BioShock 1 and Infinite BioShock 2 does come up in third place. However among the three I can't help but think this game as the most fun. Though on a philosophical standpoint BioShock 2 is far more blatant and less subtle in its message compared to its counterparts it does let me play as one of the most badass monsters in gaming, the Big Daddy. Admittingly it's a newly created (out of universe at least) prototype creature we still get the drill, a type of rivet gun and various other bad ass weapons.

As before I will be completing this game 100% in a single play-through, so that means I'll be getting all the Plasmids, save all the Little Sisters and relevant NPC's but all doing it on the hardest difficulty without vita chambers. Though since the hardest mode in this game is only just hard and not survivor this is comparatively easier then the first game but I may still have some trouble. First after dropping our daughter off for her joint custody weekend with her mom Agatha Christie we'll go to the spa fro some R&R. Then we're off to meet our old friend Tenenbaum at the train station.

Manga Review: Kazumi Magica The innocent malice Vol 5: Part 1: We'll meet again one sunny day.

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Lets see, evil clone of a central character, obsessed with killing their original. Sounds about right only difference is that unlike Ryuga we actually know where Hijiri came from.
Once again sorry for the delay in getting this part out but again life happens. But instead of me pointing you to the previous reviews of this Manga I'll instead save that for the end of this series of reviews to avoid redundancy. Back on track Volume 5 opens with Hijiri abridging the Darth Vader speech to Kazumi who of course tells her to stick her offer where the sun don't shine, even though she was a replacement the friendship between them was real.
Your words have touched my heart, tiny little homunculus girl.  NOW LEZ GIB OURSELVES A BIG OLL BACK BREAKEN UG EH?!
Kazumi manages to break out of the tube and grows back to normal size, maybe she had one of Saki's shrooms on hand. Kaoru offers Hijiri a chance to just stop all of this but she refuses, which leads to Umika giving her a reason you/we suck speech that really needs to be read for yourself. Nonetheless now that Kazumi won't join her Hijiri has no reason to be holding back anymore. Umika and Kaoru transform to let Kazumi rest but Hijiri gets some unexpected help. Some of Mirai's bears break into the barrier carrying tainted 6 Soul Gems including the Souju's all of which turn into witches that form a protective wall around Saki's witch. The two are undeterred however as Umika uses a spell she recorded on Kaoru.

Copy, please?
Despite the extra Kaoru's and Umika trying a sneak attack; Hijiri and the witches prove to be too strong for them. Kazumi tries to transform but her soul gem is at its limit. Which is where Juubey comes in and does his thing.

Or not. Hey dude I know you've been kind of useless but thats no reason to fall to pieces over this.
So now that Juubey's dead the girls are completely hosed without a way to purify their soul gems.

Wait Juubey, no no no I remember now, to our collective displeasure.
Kaoru tries to use the two gems left behind by Juubey's remains but they're dissolved and completely useless. Now that there's no way to fight back Hijiri sends the Nebula disk witch to attack, however when it hears the sound of Kazumi's earrings it roars and the other witches charge in and start to eat her. Yes what was left of Saki commanded the witches to eat and kill her so she can give the three her Grief Seed, what little of the girl inside of the monster broke out long enough to save her sisters in arms. Kind of like Day of the dead only with less Zombies and more friendship. The chapter ends with Umika and Kaoru taking the Grief Seed and fulfill Saki's last request, using it to purify Kazumi's Soul Gem saving her life at the cost of theirs.

Chapter 20 opens with Kazumi completely restored and no longer in danger of witching out. Hijiri even after seeing everything that these girls went though for each other still thinks Kazumi will go along with her crazy ass plan, look kid there's a difference between being stubborn and just plain old fashioned stupid. Kazumi obviously tells Hijiri to blow her offer out her ass and uses Umika's power (aka Kyoko's) to create copies of herself, which manage to take out the minor witches in one strike leaving Hijiri with just the Twin Fox witch. As Kazumi charges ahead the duo reminisce and regret on how they should have introduced her to Saki much sooner then they did.

Yeah apparently they could have had Kazumi meet the rest as soon as they found her, but they just wanted to wait and see if she was stable before moving things forward. They concluded that aside from Kazumi retaining Michiru's cooking skills she has no trace of Michiru's memories or personality, so pretty much perfect. Further in the past after a fight with a witch Umika got the idea to resurrect Michiru from the ability she copied from the witch with her X-File spell as well as pooling everybody else's powers together.

Now this just begs the question of 1, how she made this thing in the first place and 2 since Witches have hearts what would a Heartless born from a witch look like?
As stated earlier this is the ultimate taboo they're breaking for Michiru since she went through so much to protect them. Saki read through her journal and confirmed that Michiru at some point learned the truth, thus she made sure the other's gems were cleaned before hers and did everything she could to hide the truth from them. Her little way of trying to cope with the fact that she accidentally sentenced her new friends to inevitably becoming horrible monsters, well some people take up yoga, some people play video games and others hide the truth about their new friends becoming rejects from Tim Burton's deviant art page. Nevertheless they all agreed to this insane plan since they desperately wanted to pay back their mentor and beloved friend for all she did no matter the cost.

So for months they tried and tried but it never worked out, even Kazumi their most perfect creation can't avoid the fighting that comes with being a magical girl. Kaoru and Umika flashback again (take a shot) to the group wondering what to give Kazumi once she's finished. Mirai would give her one of her custom teddy bears, Satomi was going to give her back Toto who apparently was injured when Michiru became a witch. Umika was going to let her be the first person to read her new book (so, your gift to your friend/creation is to show her how awesome you are. Real selfless gift right there lass, maybe she was just really desperate for some feedback, but based on their previous attempts to recreate Michiru I would have guessed it would've turned out like this.)

Moving on to less narcissistic gifts Kaoru was going to give her the uniform she won in the national tournament. As for Niko, she proposed a trip to America, she wanted them all to look up at the Pleiades constellation in the Grand Canyon, where she'll be able to tell them everything about herself. As for Saki, her gift was the earrings, besides being her gift it was her way of trying to move past Michiru's death, by seeing Michiru's most treasured item not as hers but Kazumi's. So essentially a regift? "cough" Cheapskate "cough".

Back in the present as the two are about to succumb to despair they notice a much bigger problem. Saki's grief seed is about to hatch into the Nebula Disk Witch all over again. At the same time a giant glyph over the city shatters, which reminds the two about how Grief Seeds were originally disposed of. Our chapter ends with the return of the reason why the Pleiades Saints started this insanity, the being that's ultimately responsible for all of their problems, the unholy fucking fuzzball himself; the Incubator!

Chapter 21 has Kyubey just strutting around like he owns the place and introducing himself to Kazumi. Kaoru is perplexed as to where he was this this whole time, when in reality he never left they just didn't notice him. He elaborates that the reason why he went unnoticed this whole time was due to Umika. As yet another flashback tells us (take a shot) when Kaoru confronted Juubey what really happened was that when Umika grabbed the incubator; instead of rewriting Juubey's memories she in actuality beat Kyubey to death against a wall. She thought that would be the end of it but of course where there's one Kyubey there's another not too far behind like a game of wack-a-mole.

But instead of the usual cannibal routine Niko kept the dead Kyubey and experimented on it. The results of her research was an artificial incubator that was subservient to them as well as able to purify Soul Gems without a Grief Seed, and thus they named their creation Juubey. With their new incubator Umika planted the finishing touches, by combining her magic with the other 5 Pleiades she created a giant spell glyph over Asunaro city that replaced every magical girls' memory of Kyubey with Juubey and made his presence completely undetectable, so that way he can't come into contact with and create new Magical Girls. Kyubey admits that her plan was pretty damn good save for one problem, they used an incubator body as the basis for their Juubey project.

Now admittedly his critique makes sense since if Incubators were created to absorb the energy when hope becomes despair why would they be given a function that purifies Soul Gems without the use of a Grief Seed? So all Juubey was in the end was just a sentient placebo, all he did essentially was give their Soul Gems a spit shine job when they really needed a trip to a car wash. He speculates that the only reason why they didn't become witches sooner was a combination of holding back their strength when fighting as well as a residual purifying power of the Grief Seeds Juubey ingested.

Speaking of witches Umika and Kaoru are on the verge of becoming ones themselves.
"Just as planned Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!!" Yeah Kazumi he couldn't help but look at what's bleeding all over the floor right over there?
Kazumi skins the Fox witch but unfortunately it didn't drop a Grief Seed. So this chapter ends with Kazumi holding her friends hands begging for them to not become witches. With this revolution we've officially reached the climax, will Umika and Kaoru be saved, will Hijiri be stoped before she can destroy humanity, and what of the other magical girls stored in the freezer? Check out next time where we see the conclusion of Kazumi Magica The Innocent Malice.

Lets Play BioShock HD Part 8: Point Prometheus and Fontaine

Honestly this is my least favorite level in BioShock. As soon as I get the Big Daddy suit the Splicers mostly ignore me and I can go about as I wish, not to mention the insane amounts of stockpiled ammo we find here nothing can even touch me. Not even Fontaine's ineffective threats are enough to deter the walking living tank that I have become. Though fear not because there's still the DLC challenge rooms for me to overcome. That's a tale for next time.
