Tokusatsu Review: Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Final Part 1: Kamen Rider Infinite (Spoilers)

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Another year, another Kamen Rider crossover movie that doesn't make you want to rip your hair out. Which is good because just like last year's Heisei Generations it's actually cannon with this year's series; Build taking place between episodes 14 and 15 and before the True ending movies for Ex-Aid that I reviewed last month. So if you haven't caught up on Build then watch and come back because this not only fills in some plot-holes but also introduces certain elements that were reintroduced into the show proper. Also, in case you forgot here's the links to last year's Heisei Generations movie.

Part 1

Part 2

http://ondavidsbrain.blogspot.com/2017/08/tokusatsu-review-kamen-rider-heisei.html

Now that you're hopefully all caught up we open on Sento waking up from a dream where he; as Build comes across Ex-Aid and extracts his element after taking out Paradox. Puzzling to be sure but here comes a quick pick me up in the form of two new Fullbottles, Doctor and Game. He asks Misora what's with the double deal but she doesn't know anymore then he does and according to her watch it's "fuck this shit O'clock" and she takes a nice long nap.

In the topside Cafe Nascita, the usual shenanigans are going on. As he and Banjo Ryuga (Kamen Rider Cross-Z) shoot the shit Banjo tells Sento that the Ex-Aid bottle was real leaving Sento more confused then he'd care to admit. Sento gets an alert of a Smash attack and rushes to the scene finding  off color Bugster foot solders instead. Sento and Banjo transform into Build and Cross-Z but find that they can't damage the Bugsters, until Sento uses the Doctor and Game Fullbottles to gain the power of Ex-Aid, and just like Decade when Build uses Legendary Rider Fullbottles he takes on the appearance of the Rider along with the powers which he uses to wipe out the Bugsters. As Banjo tries to use a new power up Build gets knocked out by a blue gear monster who takes the Ex-Aid bottles.

Banjo chases the monster to the Dam where he finds a giant metal hand that the monster calls Enigma, which according to him can grant him access to other dimensions.

Admittingly it's not the most conspicuous way of traveling between worlds.
Though it's probably just as ridiculous any method I've encountered so far.
But hey if it gets the job done then who cares really?
After trying and failing to explain the multiverse theory to Cross-Z the Gear monster decides to give him a first hand experience and chucks him into Enigma. Build finally catches up to the monster who runs away after shorting out. We cut over to the main Toei Earth where we find Banjo dumped into a literal land of confusion as he sees the Skywall is gone. But his confusion is quickly replaced with horror once the two worlds start to collide; both figuratively and literally!
Now I'm no doctor but you don't need to have played "Operation" to tell you that if one of those is cracked, you've got some major problems.
It's not just our heroes who notice Earth's extra landscape but also Rule 63 Madokami, a whiny ghostbuster, a hobo with an underwear fixation and a teacher with a silly hairdo. Earthquakes start happening on Main Earth releasing Nebula Gas as well as the Blue Bugsters from before that go on a rampage infecting anyone they come across making more Bugsters. After the title card Emu and Kujo make it to the scene. Emu tries to transform but since Build stole Ex-Aid's elements he can't. Thankfully Hiiro, Taiga and Kujo are still active so they transform to fight off the forces while Emu, Nico and Poppy evacuate the civilians.

After the Bugsters are taken care of the riders find the one responsible, a red version of the blue gear monster from Build's world called Right Kaiser. Funky Kong admits that not only is he responsible for the Nebula Bugsters but that they'll serve as the energy for Enigma which is drawing the earth together so closely that both sides can see the alternate Earths in their skies!

As if an apocalyptic event like that wasn't bad enough; Hiiro, Taiga and Kujo can't transform again due to Enigma somehow disrupting their Gamer Drivers and Gashats, but Funky's still in tip top shape. He does the smart thing and tries to kill them in their powerless state but Kamen Rider Ghost shows up and saves the CR team forcing Funky to peace out after telling them that the world is doomed in 24 hours. But since they don't have Jack Bauer they're pretty much screwed. At a makeshift shelter Emu thanks Takeru and Onari (who for some reason is dressed like Jigen from Lupin the 3rd with an afro) for their help but Banjo arrives asking about the Skywall and Emu thinks he's Build since he sees him wearing the Build Driver.

He stops when he starts to hear Parado's voice whose currently shaking down Sento to return Ex-Aid's power. Apparently Parado's been trying to find Build for 2 years when it's later revealed that he's only been gone for a week in the main earth. Blood Stark shows up to do what pretty much every main show villain is reduced to in these movies, play the exposition buddy. In this case he explains about the Nebula Bugsters, that they're Bugsters infected with Nebula Gas and that only the power of Ex-Aid's riders can destroy them. He also tells Parado that he can communicate with Emu by holding the Game Fullbottle to his ear like a phone, how he knows it can do that is never explained.
No, this is the boss DiavoOOOOOH DAMN IT YOU KNOW WHO I AM NOW I HAVE TO KILL YOU!!!
It does work and the two compare notes with Ex-Aid's group deciding that the Nebula Bugsters take top priority. Back with Sento and Parado; Stark tells them about a thesis paper that talked about using the Skywall to gain access to parallel worlds published by a former Touto government researcher named Kaisei Mogami and that he might be the mastermind behind the world merger. He leave behind the Robot and Phoenix Fullbottles as a little gift before walking off to cash his cameo check. Speaking of villains back on the main earth the God Dan Kuroto's been released from his tablet to take on the Nebula Bugsters using the Kamen Rider Build Gashat that he made at the end of the series. It does work allowing him to transform into Genm Level X, but when it powers down after only 23 seconds he just devolves into a Tom and Jerry cartoon, shocking I know.

It's not much but it's a start and only after Onari plays into Kuroto's God complex does he get started on creating more Build Gashats for the others. Back on Earth B Sento gets the info about Kaisei from Gentoku. Apparently he discovered the Bugster virus 10 years prior and used that as the basis for his Parallel worlds theory and began his research into Enigma. But the government obviously thought he was full of crap so Kaisei left to work for Nanba Heavy Industries. This information was provided to the Touto Government by his old assistant, Takumi Katsuragi.

While he was with Nanba; Kaisei discovered a way to utilize the Bugster virus in conjunction with Nebula Gas to create the Kaiser system. However to power Enigma he needed much more of the Bugster virus to power it. Afterwords, after Katsuragi helped him complete these two devices Kaisei disappeared with the blueprints. This is confirmed when Sento discovers the research from Takumi's research files, including his many visits to Ex-Aid's world using Enigma. With this piece of information Sento learns that Takumi was the Build who stole Ex-Aids elements.

How he had that dream is unexplained (Spoilers it was a repressed memory as I mentioned in my recap special Sento is an amnesiac Takumi) for now. The reason why Takumi would go to all this trouble was most likely because he knew of Kaisei's plan to merge the two worlds together and tried to stop it. Because he knew that if Kaisei succeeds then both worlds would be destroyed. So with this bombshell this seems like a good place to take a break for now. So come back next time as we continue and answer even more questions with that beautiful tool known as hindsight, also the highlight of the movie is just around the corner so get hyped!

Personal Post: Halloween List: Top 10 Favorite Monsters in fiction Part 1

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

"These classic monsters shall be "Sirs and Lady not appearing on this list."
It’s that time of year again folks. A time of monsters, ghouls, candy, over-commercialization and your local retailers to start pushing out the Christmas crap that’s been siting on the floor since September. Now I personally just ignore Halloween as much as I can these days since it’s bored me to tears, mostly due to me getting older and finding cosplay to just not work for me. (Not dissing people who do like cosplay it’s just not my thing, though I would love an Organization 13 black-coat or Zero from Code Geass’ outfit those are awesome!) Also I can never go all out in scaring people unless I get complaints from whiny idiots who think I’m too scary. Um guys it’s Halloween you’re supposed to be scared, that’s kind of the point!

But being a Tokustusu fan via Power Rangers and Beetleborgs since I was a kid I’ve always loved creative, creepy and powerful monsters. So for this year I’m going to go over what I consider to be my favorite monsters in fiction. Now there will be some ground rules, only one monster per franchise if needed, they don’t have to be overtly designed to be monsters and their background has to be interesting to me. Also bonus points if they actually do scare me or creep me out which is kind of hard to do. Now keep in mind this is just my list and mostly tend to revolve around things that I’ve already seen or am familiar with so if you don’t see your favorite monster, spook or demon you know why. So let’s start with the fabulous #10.

#10 Kars from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Now while I know that Dio is the most famous villain in the series, is the main threat to the Joestar family and even caused the reset of the universe via his boy toy Enrico what people tend to overlook is how did he even set these events in motion? The stone mask that made him into a vampire that allowed him to live far past his era, and who was the one who created the Mask in the first place? Kars that’s who, so in essence without Kars there would be no Dio. But there’s more to Kars then just the unintended consequences of his actions, as the survivor/destroyer of The Pillar Men he, EsiDsi and Whamu began a campaign to find the Red Stone of Ajha which, combined with a special stone mask would allow the one who uses it to become the Ultimate Life-form without having to make a deal with the Black Arms or create an energy leach with the help of a literally twisted outer monster. Even when he wasn’t the ultimate life form his powers, intellect and skill were no joke. He could grow blades out of his arm which had a lightning fast chain running along it which could cut through anything, he could contort his body to fit in even the smallest crevice and could even survive in extreme temperatures with little to no outer protection.

But when he did become the ultimate life form he was unstoppable, shapeshifting, resistance to sunlight, and he could even use the Ripple to far more devastating effects then even Joseph could manage. Also the thing he did with the squirrel.

Hell he’s technically not even dead, the only way Joesph managed to stop him was to launch himself and Kars into outer space where Kars broke so far through the stratosphere he was sucked into space, becoming completely calcified and eventually stopped thinking only wishing for the death that will never come. Thus proving why I feel Kars is the best monster in Jojo and why Joseph is best Jojo despite him being Josuke’s absentee dad.

#9 The Animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Yes another mention of FNAF, no still not playing any of them.
Yes these things scare me, no it’s not just because of the jump scares. It’s the design and backstory of these poor beasts is what sells them for me. For those who haven’t been paying attention to the games lore, haven’t seen MatPats’ FNAF theories videos or who’ve never played them here’s a quick summation (Spoilers) The original five Animatronics Freddy, Golden Freddy, Chica, Bonny and Foxy are possessed by the souls of children who were murdered at a Freddy Fasbear’s pizza by the infamous Purple Guy aka William Afton and every night when the restaurant closes they roam the halls of the place looking for their killer so they can extract their vengeance on the psychotic child murderer.

Now that was just the backstory for the original Animatronics because it gets way more complicated from there. I’m talking about possessed puppets, zombies stuck in suits, hallucinations of these Animatronics (which still are my favorite designed versions of them) and even robots that have gone full sky net and stuffed themselves into a human skin just to escape the facility where they were experimented on, and I’m not joking about any of that. But just to make them even more creepy they may be based off of Yokai, to see how here’s a link to a video from Gaijin Goomba who can explain it far better then I could.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMQQp7nvUtE

And since at the time of this article there’s talks of a movie about this franchise I doubt that our friends at Fazbears pizza or the Purple Guy will be going away anytime soon. So for those unfortunate souls who work the night shift, watch your step and make sure you don’t see the Golden one, if not you’ll be sorry.

#8 Freddy Kreuger from A Nightmare on Elm Street

The man of your dreams, the Springwood slasher, Pizza The Hut's satanic cousin whatever you want to call him you know him by his Christmas sweater, burnt face, dirty fedora and that classic glove.
Let me take you all on a trip to one of the (apparently) best decades, the 80’s. Rock N Roll was on top of the world, disco was dying and some of the best movies around were in the middle of production. But at the tail end of the 70’s came a little movie called Halloween which many consider to be the grandfather of all slasher movies. Then the late great Wes Craven decided to give his own spin on the slasher killer genre and thus A Nightmare on Elm Street and the Iconic (proper iconic not Ubisoft iconic) dream demon Freddy Kreuger.

The bastard son of 100 maniacs Freddy was a notorious child killer/implied molester who was let off due to a mistake in police procedure. Thus was burnt to death in an act of vigilante justice by the parents of Springwood but survived by making a pact with dream demons to exact revenge by killing their children from the one place where their parents could never protect them, their dreams. So for 8 movies and several comics the Springwood slasher killed the children of Springwood in various sadistic, humorous and brutal ways. For the first two movies his spree was all business though he undoubtedly derived pleasure from his slow torture of his victims. But past Part 3 he starts to get more then a bit silly with an increasingly campy and goofy tone hitting a climax of not scary with Freddy’s Dead the final Nightmare, with such highlights as the Wile e Coyote homage,  The wicked Witch of Elm Street, and lest we forget a more shameless plug in for Nintendo then the entirety of “The Wizard”.

And the less we talk about the TV series the better. Granted he did get better with New Nightmare and Freddy Vs Jason but too little too late. The Michael Bay remake certainly didn’t help matters. Hell at this point his most dignified appearance past the movies was Mortal Kombat 9 where it’s all but confirmed that he’s the ruler and master of the Dreamworld which is apparently a realm that’s on Shao Khan’s radar. Sadly the death of Wes Craven back in 2015 means that we may not be graced with the man of our dreams again on the big screen but you can always see him when you hear his ringtone.

#7 Walter Sullivan and his Victims From Silent Hill 4

Been a while since we've seen this guy, yes the serial killer with even more messed up Mommy issues then Norman Bates and Sephiroth combined along with his enslaved victims.
Of the original 4 Silent Hill games the best according to popular consciousness is Silent Hill 2. But I know that everyone and their mother is sick to death of Pyramid Head showing up on these types of lists and so am I. While I do appreciate him for the part he played in that game; over-saturation of Pyramid Head has pretty much ruined him for me. Besides while I did find him unnerving and disturbing he never really was all that scary to me. But Walter Sullivan and his victims are in my opinion the most terrifying and intriguing monsters in this franchise.

In Silent Hill 4 Tommy Wiesau’s Revenge the main villain; ritualistic serial killer Walter Sullivan was brainwashed and abused by The Order since childhood to learn the 21 Sacraments ritual to resurrect his “mother” Apartment 302. These sacraments in question first consisted of the first 10 victims having their hearts removed after killing them, Walter himself via suicide and lastly the last 10 having to revolve around certain themes and “roles” that are required for the ritual. Oh and it gets better, see when Walter killed himself after his first rampage he was revived as a near invincible Ghost to finish the last of the Sacraments and resurrect his “mother” aka most likely The Order’s god Samael.

Oh and the characters that protagonist Henry Townsend encounters die and become Ghosts that serve Walter and desperately try to kill you. The worst one by far is The Twin Victims monsters, representing the two child victims of Walters first rampage Billy and Miriam Locane which become this horrific demon that walks on its two hands, has two heads that looks like crying babies and when they see you point and whisper “receiver” pointing to Henry’s role as the 21st victim “the receiver of wisdom”, nothing short of nightmare inducing.

The actual Ghosts are nothing to sneeze at either, Cynthia becomes something out of The Grudge, Jasper becomes a drunk Human Torch, Andrew (the only one you have to pin down but that’s for later) is a bloated, singing wrecking ball and Richard is a teleporting Electro. There’s other ghosts too but the ones Henry meets are the most unique and most troublesome. Not only can they all hurt you by just being near you but the only way to get rid of them is to pin them with a Sword of Obedience, and guess what? There’s more Ghosts then Swords in the game so you’re going to be stuck with some of them no matter what!

Not to mention Walter himself, when you first encounter him he does nothing but leave behind a cursed doll. Benign at first but when you start the second half of the game he occasionally pops up in a level and will chase you down relentlessly! And when he finds you he’ll duel wield guns and try to gun you down like he was Revolver Ocelot and as far as I can remember the only way to get rid of him is to warp back to Room 302. So an annoying invincible Ghost and his victims trying to kill you in order to resurrect a demon, Walter Sullivan definitely seems like a particular homeless guy that you may want to give a spare 5 bucks too, it may just save your life.

#6 The Heartless from Kingdom Hearts.

Never before have the legions of evil been so cute. Get the plushies now at your local Disney store/ Hot Topic!
Now like everyone I was apprehensive about Kingdom Hearts when I first saw the commercials on TV all those years ago, I was thinking “Disney and Final Fantasy?! God that’s never gonna work.” Then I saw some actual gameplay of the Parasite Cage fight when I was at a friends apartment visiting my Granny in New York City and the rest is history. While it was cool to go to Disney worlds and sometimes meet Final Fantasy characters there needed to be a source of conflict and boy the Heartless fill that role in more ways then one. In story the Heartless are manifestations of the darkness that dwell in the heart given physical form. Most of them are mindless beasts that have a single goal, consume more hearts. The main villain Xehanort and his various incarnations use the Heartless as Solders in his quest to obtain the source of all hearts, Kingdom Hearts and see what lies beyond the destruction and rewriting of the entire universe.

But there’s also the Nobodies which should really have their names switched but that’s what happens when what was supposed to be a one shot game becomes a massive success and the demand for sequels crops up, expanded lore tends to just be cobbled together and not everything is going to make sense. But back to the Heartless there are two types, The Purebloods which are naturally created Heartless, they show less cartoony and colorful designs and just look like pure manifestations of evil; save for the Shadows, they just look kind of cute. The second types are Emblem Heartless named after the distinct Emblems these Heartless have somewhere on their bodies. Emblems were the result of Xehanort’s experiments trying to artificially recreate the process by which hearts become Heartless. These Emblems are often themed around certain motifs related to a specific world, like for example Halloween town has spooky monster themed Heartless like the Wright Knight and Gargoyles while Agrabah has Bandits, Fat Bandits and other Arabian themed Heartless.

While these guys are not exactly what you’d call scary their variety in design and powers on top of their downright horrifying origin makes them an impressive menace to plague the world of the Kingdom Hearts universe. Though if you want to see creatures that do the “manifestations of pure darkness” thing with a more serious (and better executed) tone that’s what part two of this list is for. So for my honorable mentions and the rest of the proper list join me next time, if you’d be so kind?

Movie Review: Wonder Woman: Praise Zeus it's actually good!

When you're done read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

It's been a long time coming but we finally get a DCEU movie that's actually good. It's not the flaming garbage fire that was Man of Steel or Batman V Superman nor was it the jumbled pile of meh that was Suicide Squad no Wonder Woman is actually good. If ever there was a movie that DC and Warner Bros needed to NOT screw up royal it would be Wonder Woman. No seriously this is not only just a good sign for DC's movie universe project but now they've actually accurately portrayed one of their characters that isn't connected to Batman in terms of family of comics or central mythology and we haven't seen that on the big screen since way back with the Cristopher Reeves Superman movie, yeah that long ago until DC managed not to screw up anyone who isn't Batman and thankfully they pulled it of with the most iconic (proper Iconic not Ubisoft iconic) female Superhero period!

This is probably going to be seen as a pretty damn important movie not just for the Superhero genre as a whole but definitely for female moviemakers and female portrayals. Now as a guy I'm most definitely not the one to make any definitive statements nor do I really think I should (aside from that last sentence but whatever) but I really do think this is going to go down in the history books as one of the biggest game changers for cinema. As for the movie itself Wonder Woman's origin pretty much remains the same except that it takes place during the first world war instead of WW2 since the movie is going for a "war and people are a mix of different shades of grey and there's good and evil to be seen in everyone" message and well Nazis kinda tend to make that message a bit more then murky unless the Nazi in question is a cyborg and the big bad guys are 3 resurrected near invincible monster men who look like they jumped off of a Man-O-War cover.

Though in a Superhero movie, super powered body builders and cyborg Nazis wouldn't be unwelcome but when trying to convey a message they tend to make it a little more complicated I'm just saying. Now back on topic anyone who knows Diana's backstory knows the drill Hippolyta creates Diana from clay, Zeus brings her to life as her child she grows up on Themyscira US Pilot and Spy Steve Trevor crashes, Diana agrees to bring him back to Man's world since according to him the war to end all wars is going on along with the creation of a new truly terrible weapon. Diana and the rest of the Amazons believe that Ares the God of War is the one pulling the strings since he's an asshole and this is basically his MO. So Diana steals the Lasso of Truth, the armor and a ceremonial sword that is said to be able to kill a god and goes back to Mans world with Steve to try to stop the war by killing Ares since with him dead it will be permanent end to war, hate, violence and traffic accidents and wooooo boy is she gonna be in for a disappointment.

Now having seen nothing else that Gal Gadot was in and only knowing Chris from the New Star Trek movies the chemistry between the two works like a charm and let me tell you all as someone who's only major exposure to the Spirit of Truth was from the truly magnificent Justice League cartoon series I look at Gal Gadot and I don't see an actor I saw freaking Wonder Woman. Or at least a hell of a lot more of an accurate live action modern depiction then with Bonkers Betty from that awful 2011 pilot I'll tell you that much. though personal theory here, but it seems that this is yet another sign of a major change in DC, ever since the New 52 line ended in their comics line there seems to be a major spark of reinvigoration and creativity in their products first with Lego Batman.  But this is just dancing around the fact that you all should go see Wonder Woman whenever you get the chance.

Personal Post: My first false copyright claim: CoPeerRight Agency - Italy has made my list.

Please be sure to read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Thank you Jim for introducing me to this beautiful symbol of displeasing disgust.
Well it finally happened people, some slimy little weasel decided to lie to Youtube and try to take money from me. It happened on March 16th 2017 when I was editing my Lets Play/ Walkthrough videos when I noticed a Copyright Claim on Part 10 of my Ratchet and Clank Lets Play.

Now if Insomniac Games (you know the people who own the actual rights to Ratchet and Clank) were the ones to make the claim then I might have some cause for concern. But as you can clearly see the claim was made by some filthy little pieces of gutter trash calling themselves CoPeerRight Agency - Italy.
Who I know full well have nothing to do with Ratchet and Clank and certainly have no legal grounds to try to steal money from me for trying to entertain all of you. Now this isn't my first Copyright claim but at least the first one you can argue that the holders might have some grounds.

Now the first claim was on Part 1 of my Lets Play of the Demo For Jojo's Bizarre adventure Eyes of Heaven that I did a year back. Normally I would have filed a counter claim and did a whole article about the ordeal but I took a step back and thought to myself. First the claims in question were over a cutscene that most likely would have been blocked for recording of the full game due to it being pretty spoiler heavy, the second being the character intros before the fight which is more bullshit but whatever. The main reason why I didn't counter claim is that A it's just the demo and profiting off of that is more questionable then others, B they made it so I can't monetize and left it at that, they didn't just put adds that I can't earn anything from to pour salt in the wound, C I figured that I'd dispute it later once the hype for the game died down and Namco Bandai would forget about it, the 30 days would come and go and no harm no foul. Lastly, D the claim was made by the company that actually owns the rights to the fucking game!
But then comes along CoPeerRight Agency-Italy with the one two punch of blocking me from making money off of my video but also putting adds so that they can make money off of my work. That is where they crossed the line (on top of them not owning the rights to Ratchet and Clank) so I filed a counter claim and here we are now. I did a little bit of research and apparently I'm not the first guy these slimy little bastards have tried to steal from. A Youtuber named called Sam Kan also apparently had an encounter with these clowns, though it was far worse since according to him CoPeerRightAgency-Italy issued about 10 claims far after the videos were put up.

If you've uploaded videos to Youtube you know that if anything is considered in violation of Copyright Youtube lets you know the minute it's uploaded as was the case when some videos of certain Walkthroughs were flagged for having copyrighted music in them. (Even though the music is in the game footage itself and not added by me. But in that case I just used Youtube's music removal program so the offending music is just muted or lowered so no harm there.)

So let's go over the facts kiddies, My video was published On April 1st 2016 and then CoPeerRight Agency- Italy made the copyright claim on March 16th 2017. Get the air fresheners because I smell a big flaming pile of horse shit!
Not to be too unoriginal here but these people are the Parasites that Andrew Ryan was talking about all though-out Bioshock. These "people" with their lack of morals, decency or honor try to steal from those who put in the labor into what we do. Whether it's a Walkthrough, original piece of art or what have you if you put the effort into making something new or transforming someone else's work with your commentary or jokes then who should profit off of that labor of love? CERTAINLY NOT YOU Says the Parasites! And why not, Youtube has no legal penalties in place for these blood suckers so why not go for the gold and steal from anyone whose trying to get ahead?
Now I normally ask people to share the links to these articles but I absolutely must insist in this instance. So everyone who reads this I implore you, speak out against not just CoPeerRight Agency - Italy but anyone else whose stupid, greedy and depraved enough to steal from your passions and see their "businesses" foreclosed and burnt to the ground! Though some part of me is actually glad about this recent development. Since I'm now apparently gaining enough ground on Youtube for these slimy little toads to try and take my money off of my work. Though again I haven't seen a dime from my videos since I'm far too scared to try and earn money off of my videos since 1 I don't know how, 2 I know next to nothing about copyright law so I don't know what would and wouldn't fly (especially in such an unfriendly environment like Youtube where they are content to keep the Right-holders happy while screwing over the people that made them the #1 video uploader in town.)

But most importantly is #3, I don't know how to attract more people to my channel aside from sharing links with far more successful Youtubers and hoping someone is bored enough to click on my videos and watch long enough to see a dime roll my way. Speaking of does anyone have any tips to attract more viewers and readers? Though if your answer is "just keep going and eventually you'll find your audience" I've been doing that for at least 3 years I need something more substantial then that. I truly am grateful for those who have shared the links for my various Articles and videos don't misunderstand me but I just need more concrete numbers. I'm still going to keep going and doing this till something clicks, I've come too far to just give up but seriously folks one click on two buttons at the bottom of my videos and articles can do wonders for me and anyone else whose trying to make something of themselves. Though it may be just a matter of creating the right content at the right time, so maybe once Persona 5 comes out and I start my LP of it then maybe things will pick up.

Update March 20th 2017:

They released the claim, I knew they'd see things my way. I read on twitter that these copyright claims are seen as just an evolution of spam emails. I can definitely see why. So if this problem happens to you just counter claim them and all should be good. Especially if they don't have a leg to stand on, because like a kid they have to fess up once you see their hand in the cookie jar.

Tokusatsu Review: Shruiken Sentai Ninninger vs Toqger Part 1: Why too much silly doesn't work.

Please be sure to read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Well people, here we are, the crossover I have been dreading for quite some time, my current personal worst Sentai series to date crossing over with the current most critically and commercially panned Sentai. You all know my complaints about Toqger by this point, the Red has severe brain damage and is insufferable, the suit designs for the heroes and their mechs are the most lazy I've ever seen and their message is personally disgusting, offensive and just plain wrong. While in Ninninger's case I give it more slack then Toqger if only because Toqger came out first so all my rage was probably spent by the time it fell apart. While yes it is structurally far worse then Toqger and has not only lame villains and also an even worse mentor then Gosei from Megaforce (YES I WILL TAKE THAT TO THE GRAVE!!!) and Takaharu was just a little less annoying and slightly more tolerable then Right I will still rush to Ninninger's defense before Toqger. Especially since Ninninger has a chance to redeem itself from adaptation since Saban seems to agree with me and is skipping Toqger for adaptation once Dino Charge is over

Now before I talk about this crossover and no doubt get drafted into the Red Lantern Corps when I'm done with it I need to share some theories as to why Toei has been shoving out goofy series for three years after Gobusters wrapped up. The reason is due to what fellow Tokusatsu critic Des Shinta refers to as the "Carranger Effect" named after the series Gekisou Sentai Carranger, which was what was adapted into Power Rangers Turbo. This refers to Toei's tendency to follow up a failed sentai series with a more goofy silly sentai to try and bring back viewers who they think left because "Kids are stupid and can't understand more complex stories so bring them back with brightly colored nonsense."

Yeah but see here, the reason why Carranger helped saved Sentai back in the 90's? It was because a more goofy series was needed since the previous series Choriki Sentai Ohranger was a super serious war Sentai that premiered during a Terrorist attack!!! On top of that apparently around the 9th episode Ohranger was going to do a storyline that apparently would have been very similar to what just happened and Toei; figuring that little kids wouldn't be particularly happy being reminded of horrible attacks that killed several thousand people potentially including their loved ones had to cobble together new episodes and plots extremely fast which put their series far over budget. This is exactly what happened to Evangelion by the way, also this is just speculation based and what I've found online in forums discussing this topic so it could be false but it does seem rather plausible that these are the circumstances that lead to the Carranger effect.

Back on topic here Toei seems to have forgotten that Carranger helped Sentai get back on track due to it being a necessity at the time, not so much afterwords. But now they seem to think that if a series sucked, crank up the goofy and they'll come back in droves. When they don't acknowledge that it sucked because the writing wasn't up to par. But I could just go on about this and since this is a review blog and not an opinion blog let's get on to the real question of this review. Would I prefer a Shuriken in my eye or being run over by a train?

We begin our festival of pain with our band of Ninja numbskulls on a train, though Takaharu doesn't know exactly where they're going. Apparently they're off to a Ninja theme park for summer vacation. The intercom tells them that their stop is at Dream Ninnin Live Station and if you have two functioning brain cells you can immediately tell that they're on a Shadow Line train but no time for that now we have Kinji doing a rock cover of their ending theme song, because reasons. After the Big Lipped Alligator Jam Session we see a familiar face.
Great, Rule 63 Right's the first apperance in this crossover, I can already feel the Pixie Sticks being force fed down my mouth. And she's in her grown up form WTF? Also she's a pop idol in this dream for some reason, speaking of.
Back on track Kagura grabs Kinji and runs off with him. We cut to.... the opening of the movie again, kay? Though Takaharu notices that while the core five are there there's six bentou lunches. However the intercom chimes in again telling that they're now in Dream Spy mission Station now. Where they apparently become a much better Sentai team, the Gobusters. Ok not really but they're spies now for some reason. The group split up and Yakumo, Nagi and Katsumi get chased down by thugs when they're saved by the only Toqger that I wouldn't want to toss into a Gulag.
Dude you can ask people to call you Susan for all I care just so long as you usurp Right as leader of the Toqger I soooooo don't care!
He's not here to take up my advice however and just takes the three with him. The next loop of Endless Eight happens again but the two have their next station up ahead.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! THEY'RE BROTHER AND SISTER MOVIE WHAT THE HELL IS THIS I DON'T EVEN!!! Oh good lord I swear I can hear Banjos already.
Oh thank whoever's up there that these two aren't at the alter and Fuuka's dream groom is really Tokacchi, but is it? No for you see he's really this guy!

No no Mio shows up, chews out Tokacchi and tries to get Fuuka out of there but are stopped by Jukkarage thugs. The four transform and the Toqger explain that these dreams are actually illusions created by our movie exclusive Yokai Wanyūdō.
And oh dear god he's just a weird head strapped onto a Kuliner Robo suit. Once again the laziness of the Toqger mandates infects the production. Now it just looks like a spooky stupid Gunman. If only Kamina would show up, give a over the top man speech and kick its ass. But no we have the Toqgers and Ninningers to do it instead, joy bunnies.
So our lazily designed monster traps the four inside of itself so the "veterans" can give the two newbies the lowdown. Takaharu remembers that they went out to fight Wanyūdō and got abducted and out muscled. So greetings are exchanged, introductions are made, title cards are shown yeah yeah yeah we know the drill. The Toqgers continue saying that even tough they beat the main Shadow Line their resident Doctor returned from studying abroad and that he's the one behind the Dark Ninja land. Takaharu says his catchphrase and of course the other 3 sane people are flummoxed by his stupidity.
Well they both make me want to take a staple-gun to my ballsack then put up with them so yes, Tokacchi yes they are.
Speaking of which he shows up for the rescue and drives the rainbow line up to Wanyūdō's train form to let them make the jump to safety. Wanyūdō however sends in Jukkarage and Kuros to take the four out. They transform and try to fight off the forces but they just keep coming. Wanyūdō eventually manages to escape into a tunnel but not before the Toqgers manage to get Fuuka at least to safety, Takaharu however didn't make it, not because the grunts overwhelmed him, not because Wanyūdō got inside the tunnel no no.
BECAUSE HE SLIPPED ON FUUKA'S GODDAMN BANANNA PEEL!!!!!

Why did I say I'd stick up for this asshole again? So one dumbass red gets kidnapped so our other dumbass red chases him down. And to pour salt into the wound the Kibaoni foxy general shows up to gloat.
No not that Foxxy.
Dear god not that Foxy.
Oh I wish it was that Foxy, at least she's fun and competent. Also HELLO NURSE!
No no it's Kyuemon who tells them the obvious, that he was the one behind Wanyūdō, speaking of he delivers our dumbass Ninja to the dark Ninja land park. You know all this blatant stupidity is getting to me. I'll cut it off here before my brains are reduced to yogurt. See you next time where we learn more obvious crap like how the sky is blue, feet stink and Takaharu and Right couldn't outwit a box of oatmeal.

Manga Review: Madoka Magica The Different story volume 3: Part 1: KyoMami/MamiKyo (whatever) forever!!!

Please be sure to read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

We're finally at the final volume of this Madoka story so if you've for some reason missed the first two volumes here're the links. We open on a flashback of how Mami got to where she is now, the car crash, the contract and how if she could change her wish, she'd save her parents in a heartbeat. She asks Kyubey what good she is now. He tells her that she needs to fight, and save people from the witches, after her first fight she decides to use her new power to save as many people as she can. So she does, saving many people from the Witches and familiars.

Including this girl who I'm sure will never be mentioned or seen again wink wink!!!
Everything else we've seen before but her inner monologue is something entirely new. She breaks down and confesses to Sayaka about how she doesn't want to be alone anymore, she never wanted to be a hero and is drowning in her loneliness  She turns to Sayaka but it's too late and she becomes the mermaid Witch. She's failed again; she's failed to protect those she treasures and Sayaka has become a monster, thus begins Mami's own descent into despair.

Madoka finally arrives but Oktavia (Sayakas witch) managed to get away leaving Mami to tell Madoka what happened. She of course lies to Madoka so she doesn't panic and just says that she went to change clothes and that the two are going witch hunting later. Madoka suggests that she go along with them but Mami insists on it just being the two of them. Madoka accepts this and leaves telling Mami to take care of Sayaka. Meanwhile Homura finishes explaining the truth about Magical Girls to Kyoko who goes off to find Mami. Homura however advises against it since; based on her past time loops whenever Mami learns that truth she always breaks down and tries to kill everyone else. When Kyoko is about to ask why Mami is a lost cause Homura suggests two possible outcomes for Mami, either killing herself after killing Oktavia or she's already become a witch herself.

Kyoko doesn't buy it for a second since the Mami she knows would never go through with something like that. However Homura argues that that's the problem, the Mami she knows wouldn't do that but the real Mami Tomoe would and did go through with those scenarios. Kyoko's had enough and constructs a spell wall to keep Homura back as she goes to find Mami herself. She gives her reasons why and Homura just tells her that she shouldn't be making mistakes over what it is she should be protecting.

Later on Mami managed to track down Oktavia but Kyoko's quartered off the barrier. Kyoko tries to stop her but it's clear that Mami's too far gone, her world view is shattered, her actions lead to Sayaka becoming a Witch and she knows that for all the good she's done she'll just turn into another Witch and kill innocent people until some other sap comes and puts her down. So what sane person would go on knowing what lies down that road?

Mami has officially thrown down the gauntlet folks, get ready for a Sunday night slam fest!!!!
The two know that there's only one way to settle this, a fight to the death, winner deals with Oktavia. Our chapter ends with Kyoko promising to hold nothing back. Chapter 10 starts with Kyubey informing Homura that the fight has started and asks whether she should be helping Kyoko. She says that she won't since this is their mess so they should be the ones to clean it up. Kyubey suggests that Homura has other reasons why she doesn't try to stop the fight, she says that she doesn't but her flashbacks of when Mami nearly killed her say otherwise, those old scars do indeed run deep.

Back at the fight Mami is indeed holding nothing back, even going as far as using her threads to create a web around the construction zone the two are fighting in.
Why that thieving little, ok, you know what? Fine I know how well this is gonna go so yeah, see you in hell right here with me. When you get here I'll show you how the OG does it!!!
However Kyoko points out that in addition to her normal magic heavy attacks this trick will just use up her magic even more, she then figures out her plan she wants to be driven into despair and become a Witch. Eventually Kyoko manages to slam Mami into a wall and break her arm. She tries to tell Mami that what happened with Sayaka wasn't Mami's fault. Mami then says that it might be Kyoko's fault.
Jeez Mami why don't you tell us how you really feel? No really it might actually help you at this point.
Mami says that she doesn't really mean that but since her heart is so consumed with despair that all her thoughts and feelings are becoming corroded and tainted with hate and grudges. She admits that Kyoko is the stronger of the two since even in the face of everything that's happened to her she never succumbed to despair. That even though she's such an emotional weakling Sayaka would still accept and forgive her, that's why Mami is planning to stay with her and won't let anyone interfere with her plans so she fires her musket upwards and crushes Kyoko under steal girders. However Kyoko managed to dodge the attack and just as she's about to gain the upper hand again Mami managed to kick her into her thread trap promising her payback.

Madoka in the meantime just wishes in her heart that the five can all become friends. Back at the fight Kyoko is caught as Mami prepares the killing stroke. Kyoko tells her that Homura was right about her warning, she figured that Mami wasn't like what Homura said so she just egged her on not knowing that she's actually fighting to kill like this. Mami apologizes for betraying her expectations, but Kyoko says that there's no reason since she betrayed her first. Kyoko finishes her apology, Mami then shoots Kyoko's soul gem killing her instantly.

However just as Mami tries to enter Oktavias barrier she collapses, de transforms and sees that her soul gem has almost turned black. Kyubey shows up and tells Mami that he'll keep her company until the Soul Gem hatches into her Witch mostly just so he can observe the process for some purpose, because altruism is illogical, fuck you fuzzball. She apologizes to Sayaka for not being there with her at the end, that she always loses her way when it really matters and how she'll always end up alone. Her final thoughts lead her back to when she was training Kyoko, and specifically a certain instance where Kyoko tries to tell her something concerning their relationship and how she just calls Kyoko a friend.

Just say "You're more then a friend" and this would have gone far better, SCHMUCK!!!
Mami of course takes it the wrong way and thinks that once Kyoko learns all that Mami has to teach her she'll just toss her aside like a dirty dishrag. So she thinks that she'll have to be better then everyone else be the perfect magical girl so that she'll never be betrayed again. That is until Cadeloro shows up and offers an option 2.

Why does this look so familiar?

Oh right, those.
But before she fully becomes the Annabelle Phantom our chapter ends with Kyoko appearing before her alive and well. Tune in next time for how Kyoko survived and my thoughts on this story.
