Video Game Review: Shin Megami Tensei 4: My 3DS is now a COMP.

Yep SMT 4 Apocalypse/Final is on its way to the US at the time of this article's release and I personally can't wait. While I would love to see an SMT game on a main console Persona 5 will do quite nicely, and besides I have SMT 3 to occupy me. Which means an eventual lets play for all of you; so yeah something to look forward to. Back to this, SMT 4 along with Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance were the main reasons I got a 3DS in the first place and now that I heard that those who unlock all four endings will get bonus' for SMT 4 Apocalypse/ Final it's time for me to dive back into the country of the Unclean ones and kick some demon ass. Though speaking of Demons some of the new ones in this game were designed by several Kamen Rider illustrators including the recently deceased Yasushi Hirasawa (February 5th 2016) who worked on designs for the Undead from Blade, the Worms from Kabuto and the Imagin from Den-O and some of the Horrors from Garo. others include Yoshihiro Nishimura; Keita Amemiya; Tamotsu Shinohara and Kyouma Aki, see if you can guess which ones!

Now this isn't going to be a full review of the game because I really, really want you all to play this for yourselves especially since it's down to 20 dollars on the Nintendo store so now you have no excuse! Though I will give a basic rundown of the game and characters but I will be avoiding spoilers as much as I can. So let's get started; unlike most heroes of the Megami Tensei franchise our hero does have an established name in the upcoming sequel so we'll be using that name.

Our main hero is Flynn; a prentice Samurai from the world known as the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado

Isabeau, the only female of the new Samurai and voice of reason among the quartet.
Johnathan, the noble soft spoken Samurai who is clearly the Law aligned character.
Last but not least is Walter the Chaos character; a brash hotblooded Samurai who like Flynn was a Casualry before he was deemed worthy of becoming a Samurai.
Right I forgot to mention that Mikado has a very clear class system; the aforementioned Casualries who are the working class and completely under the thumbs of the Luxurors who are the upper class that run the kingdom and regard the Casualries as low class dumb dirt. The only way for a Casualry to become a Luxuror is to become a Samurai. Now Samurai aren't just chosen all willy nilly; when children of the Kingdom regardless of social class become 18 they all gather to Mikado Castle to participate in the Gauntlet Rite to see if they're worthy of becoming a Samurai. As noted only five were chosen from this year's potentials. Now the last one Navarre isn't worth mentioning as he's a useless pampered Luxuror toad who goes crazy after getting stuck in a demons domain and begs his family to bribe his way into getting an honorable discharge by making a large donation to the monastery.

All over the kingdom there have been reports of people becoming Demons and a Samurai in odd black armor not too far behind. After an incident in a village; orders from the monastery have come down that the Black Samurai has retreated to Tokyo which is a world below Naraku; a noted nest of demons and Tokyo is home to those referred to as "the unclean ones". So our four Samurai must travel into uncharted territory, battle and recruit demons and bring the Black Samurai to justice.

Though the road may be long, arduous and morally dubious Flynn won't be alone since the gauntlet he has is equipped with an AI named Burroughs.

Though something about her does sound very familiar. Where have I heard her voice before?
Though ironically Burroughs displays far more depth and personality then Lightning ever does NYOHOHO!!! No seriously with Burroughs' help you can access the Cathedral of Shadows app; that's right unlike Nocturne you can fuse demons anytime, anywhere. Though for the tradeoff, you don't earn money from killing demons. But that doesn't mean you can't get money at all; no for that you have to earn money from quests, selling relics AKA junk to vendors and from using the fundraise app that you can purchase from Burroughs with enough app points.

That's right like a good smartphone Burroughs has apps. But these aren't like Youtube, Twitter or Angry Birds or anything like that no these apps include increasing your stock of Demons, expanding your skill slots, raising you demon's stats upon leveling up and much more. Though be forewarned you can't get everyone in the game so choose wisely. Speaking of choices that brings us to the branching paths; like any SMT game you can get multiple endings depending on choices that you made during the game. This one in particular has 4 which I won't be discussing but I will tell you the path I took my first time through.

Here are the original choices I made during my first play thorough of the game which resulted in the best ending; the Neutral ending.

Tokusatsu Review Kamen Rider Chaser: Part 2: Don't question the crazy Rhino!

Please be sure to read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

Where we last left off Chase became a real boy and the funniest spit take in history happened. No seriously whoever directed that scene made Buster Keaton and Groucho Marx shed tears of pride, bravo to that guy. However Krim is understandably cautious about Chase's upgrade and races off to confront him before Chase discovers humor. Trust me an AI suddenly discovering humor can lead to ungodly amounts of annoyance.

Chase with his brand new attitude visits Hinako and Milksop in the hospital with gifts for the two and offers to play basketball with Milksop. Chase used kindness on Milksop.

Happy 20th Pokemon!!!
The weirdness continues with Chase going on, and I kid you not, a shopping montage with Milksop. The two then start playing basketball culminating with Milksop finally opening up to Chase and starting to have fun. Afterwords Krim finally shows up riding the Trailer Cannon and quickly deduced that someone hardwired something to Chase that's responsible for his new attitude. He then gets a call from Kiriko who has good news and bad news, good news is they found the guy 051 copied, bad news he's dead and his corpse is directly on the boarder of another city and the detective from the other city claims that the man is a suspect in a case he's involved with. Shinnosuke and Go ask who he is but those who've seen W know exactly who he is.
Yep it's Terui Ryuu AKA Kamen Rider Accel.
Now I gave a brief description of W back in my prologue review of; THAT MOVIE; but I didn't talk about Ryuu, nor will I since I want you to see it for yourselves. But yeah Ryuu's involved in this case since the suspect got his hands on a Gaia Memory so it makes sense that he's here. So Shinnosuke and Go are stuck trying to negotiate for the suspects corpse while Ryuu wants to take it because he thinks the guy died from overexposure to the one he had, the Beast Memory. But they're at a stalemate since the two are scared to death of the guy; coupled with Ryuu being as flexible as a statue negotiations are stuck leaving Krim to deal with Chase.

Speaking of; Krim managed to find the feather circuit on Chase's body but Chase is then attacked by 051. Chase orders Hinako and Hiroshi (yeah he's developed enough so I can't call him Milksop anymore) to run and tries to transform into his rider form but he can't since according to Krim the feather circuit is interfering with his base program. Krim offers to let Chase use him to become Proto-Drive but Angel shows up and says that won't work either since now that he's a complete Roidmude in her terms there's no need to become a Rider, but she does give him an alternative; a Rhino Viral Core which will allow Chase to become a Super Roidmude.

Now this is another personal nitpick of mine but I'll probably never get the chance to talk about it so here it goes, why was there never a Scorpion Viral Core/Scorpion Roidmude? I mean Bat and Spider I get since those were the first two monsters the first Kamen Rider fought, but why not the Scorpion since it was the 3rd one? Apparently the Cobra was because he was the first monster that was revived and remodeled but I still don't buy it. This could have been the perfect opportunity to have the Scorpion Viral core but why a Rhino? That choice just seems like it just came out of nowhere; but whatever just a small annoyance that I wanted to get off my chest.

Moving on Chase becomes Mashin Chaser again and despite Krims warnings he uses the Rhino Viral Core and becomes Super Mashin Chaser.

Yeah I don't care how stupid Chase was for trusting Angel; this form looks Badass! I love how the Rhino shoulder pads  look like flames and the wing esq horn on Chases head really bring the hellish biker angel motif of his logo, pretty damn awesome for a movie exclusive form.
Now that Chase has gone Super Saiyan he tells Hiroshi to take his sister and get out of there; he then proceeds to wreck 051s shit and finally puts him down for good. Angel asks how the new upgrade feels when Heart shows up to confront her. So Chase, Heart and Krim are all where Angel wants them so she calls in her crew; along with Brain. He's not really on her side of course but he does tell Heart that he's at least open to the possibility of what she's saying being true. But Heart points out that they achieved their Super Evolution on their own.

But Brain and Chase counter his argument by saying that not all of the Roidmudes are like them and that the feather circuit really does work. Angel proclaims that like her namesake she'll be the salvation for the remaining 31 Roidmudes. But Heart knows who his real angel is and refuses to put up with her crap. Even Krim agrees with Heart saying that all Angel is offering is just throwing away their ability to think for themselves. With the jig up she absorbs the cores of her followers and becomes even stronger forcing Brain and Heart to go their own Super forms, but she just smacks them around like a drum.

Chase transforms to back the two up but even he gets tossed aside, literally. Just as Angel is about to kill Heart and Brain Chase gets caught in the blast with them. However Angel notices that the three corpses are Brain's virus clones and tries to find them. Meanwhile Rinna manages to wake Krim up after he lost consciousness who tells her that they need to get to Shinnosuke asap!

Will the Roidmude Trio defeat Angel? Will the Detectives finally decide who gets Moe Urkels corpse? Will Chase finally rip out that cheep pigeon feather? Will Medic finally get her man? Tune in next time for the conclusion of Chase's solo movie!

Manga Review: Madoka Magica The Different story volume 3: Part 2: Fate is not a teabag.

Please be sure to read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.
Mami Tomoe in a nutshell, a mix of Kamen Rider Raia and a very slight dash of Scissors
Where we last left off Kyoko survived; turns out she managed to regain a bit of her illusion magic and used it to avoid Mami's attack. Unfortunately Kyoko says that she doesn't have any spare Grief seeds with her. However Mami says that she has something new to confess before the end, that all she wanted from Kyoko was be friends with her. Yet Mami thought that all Kyoko considered her was a Sempai and nothing else, that she didn't have the courage to say anything about it so all the two shared were battles. At the end of their conversation Mami just asks one thing of Kyoko, to crush her Soul Gem then deal with Sayaka. Kyoko refuses since she knows that nothing will change with her dead but Mami just begs to be put down before she becomes a witch. She can't however because Mami is the only family that Kyoko has left.

Honestly tell me why is Kyosaya a thing when this makes far more sense?
Now that Mami is safe for now Kyoko decides to deal with Sayaka. Mami offers to help but Kyoko says that she's too exhausted, so Mami tells her to promise her to not disappear again. She gives Mami her ribbon and crest of her father's church to hold onto till she gets back. As she walks into the barrier and Mami loses consciousness it's revealed that the Grief Seed Kyoko had was one of her illusions. Kyoko then manages to kill Octavia and get her Grief Seed. The chapter ends with Mami waking up in her apartment with Madoka and Homura waiting for her to wake up. However when she asks about Sayaka and Kyoko Homura tells her that Sayaka was killed by a Witch and Kyoko has disappeared. Homura asks Madoka to leave and when the two are alone Homura asks for Mami's cooperation.
In the chapter intermission we learn that the two Magical Girls from the first chapter turned into the two witches Mami and Sayaka fought, guess we know who Karma favored in the end then.
The final Chapter of this story begins with Mami questioning how Homura knew about what happened with Sayaka and how events with her would play out. Homura admits that she didn't expect Mami to last as long as she has; she then gets straight to the point, the only reason she worked with Kyoko was to take down Walpurgisnacht. Mami of course asks if that was her only goal then why didn't she tell them in the first place, to which Homura replies that she wouldn't believe her. To be fair she does have a point; when she showed up Mami wasn't exactly in a listening mood, anything Homura would have said would most likely been dismissed by Mami trying to impress Sayaka and Madoka, and whenever Kyoko attempted reconciliation she would more often then not be repelled by the way Kyoko often phrased herself and would end up fighting.

After hearing her proposal Mami finally figured out why Kyoko came back to Mitakihara after so long, she remembered the promise the two made and came to prepare. However Mami said that she has a new promise with her, Homura tells her that she honestly doesn't know of Kyoko's whereabouts and that she can't find Sayaka's Labyrinth. Homura then asks Mami if her soul gem really was purified. She says that considering that there were at least three magical girls in the city Grief Seeds are a sparse commodity. So Mami figured out what happened but doesn't believe that Kyoko would do something like that, but Homura does find it hard to believe that both would survive, then the unholy fuzzball shows up and explains what happened, both Sayaka and Kyoko are dead. A flashback reveals that Kyoko managed to kill Oktavia and used her Grief Seed to purify Mami's soul gem. Kyoko admits that this wasn't about Walpurgisnacht but she really wanted a chance to make up with Mami and fully admits that she should have just apologized in the first place. Kyubey says that she found another Witch but was killed during the fight.

He figured that if she'd stuck to her usual strategy and stocked up on extra Grief Seeds then she would have survived. He also makes an addendum to what he said earlier regarding Sayaka becoming a witch, he noticed that Homura and Mami weren't doing their share of the hunts hoping that others; namely Sayaka would get the seeds. However since she only went for the familiars that plan didn't go as intended. But either way Kyubey would benefit since the longer they go without hunting Witches the more polluted their gem would become and then bam two new witches and more despair to collect. Homura's had enough but just as she pulls a gun out of her hammer space Mami beats her to the punch, creates a gun and points it at Kyubey.

She's finally had enough and is disgusted with how little Kyubey seems to value lives but he then points out how hypocritical she is since by wishing to extend her life she in turn killed hundreds of former magical girls, so by his logic what's two more corpses on the mountain she's already made? Mami backslides into her depression again when Homura literally slaps some sense into her by telling her that for every witch she put down she saved hundreds of lives that would have most likely ended if those Witches were to continue their mindless rampage. She also points out that once Walpurgisnacht shows up; thousands of people will die and all her work would be flushed down the toilet. Homura basically tells her to accept that she's not Superman, accept her weakness, move on and survive. She then gives an abridged version of when Madoka saved her from being killed by Mami in a previous timeline and not to let Sayaka and Kyoko's sacrifices be for nothing.

Later on the two calm down after their outbursts and Homura asks Mami to keep all of what they talked about a secret from Madoka and to consider teaming up with her to take down Walpurgisnacht. After she leaves Mami tells Kyubey to piss off and does so but not before telling her that Madoka is back and wants to talk with her. She came by to tell her that she secretly made friends with Kyoko. In a flashback conversation between the two Kyoko cuts to the chase and deduces that Madoka doesn't really want to be a magical girl. She explains how she and Sayaka were friends since they were little and how she would always protect her where as Madoka would have problems liking herself and only wanted to be of help in a vague way. That is until Mami entered their lives and Madoka learned of her potential as a Magical Girl and how she could be as cool as Sayaka, however she became one first, thus Madoka felt the distance between them become even greater.

Kyoko then tells her story and how she didn't like how Mami and Sayaka were acting especially since it seemed that Mami didn't really learn from what happened between the two. Now she's annoyed with herself because she wound up pushing Mami's buttons instead of trying to convince her. Madoka smiles and says that she thought that Kyoko was the bullying type but it turned out to be the opposite and is realized that she is concerned for Mami and Sayaka. After words the two would often meet up to talk about various things. Madoka asks if the two could make up but Kyoko refuses saying that she refuses to stick her neck out for someone else's sake.

She says that heroism and saving everybody's lives is something that only a few people could do and she's not one of them. She says that once her business is concluded she'll go back to Kazamino and will never be a nuisance to Mami again. Madoka however tells her that that's not the case an if the two just talk it out they can have a healthy relationship again. But Kyoko refutes that and says that if Mami and Sayaka were to get into a jam then she'd be there to get them out of it. Madoka never saw Kyoko again after that, she apologizes to Mami for keeping her friendship with Kyoko secret and for being a hypocrite; for all she went on about how she wanted everyone to be friends she lacked the courage to really be friends.

So she came to a decision and become a magical girl to protect those who are dear to her. Mami of course tells her that making a wish for the benefit of others is a horrible idea. She definitely sympathizes with her wanting to save Sayaka but making a wish for others will eventually come to bite her and will be driven into the same despair that Sayaka succumbed too and she refuses to lose Madoka was well. However she changes her tune when Madoka says that she's not only making the wish for Sayaka, she wants for Mami to have her normal life back. Madoka figures that all the fighting, hardship, loneliness and having no one to share the pain must have been horrible, while she can't make Mami normal again she can at least take her place in the fight.

Mami has only one reaction.

I honestly can't blame Mami's reaction here, I mean if your parents died, sold your soul to a demon to survive and in exchange you have to toss your life away to fight demons that you'll eventually become? Yeah anyone would have this reaction to someone who can honestly help you get some of that back and offers to do so.
The day of Walpurgisnacht's attack comes and we find out that not only did Madoka make the contract to bring Sayaka back to life but after leaving her last request Mami personally destroyed her Soul Gem, so with this timeline a bust Homura used her time reversal to reset the month. We end this story with Mami giving her last words as she has a tea party with Kyoko, Mami's mom and dad coming back home and how if she could have any wish in the world it would be to meet everyone in a world without Witches.

So that was Madoka Magica The Different Story so what are my thoughts on it? First the artwork was pretty good, everyone looked like who they were supposed too and there wasn't really much to critique. The first volume really gave us a good look at Mami and Kyoko's relationship before the events of the show, explained why Mami was so adamant on Madoka and Sayaka becoming Magical Girls and how Kyoko's life fell apart due to her dad being a crazy asshole and how his actions upon discovering the truth lead to the Kyoko we first saw. While I do fully understand that this is gong to be an unpopular opinion amongst some members of the fanbase this also showcased why Mami needed to die in the main show.

With Mami still alive Sayaka's actions make less sense. In the show her reasons for becoming a Magical Girl full time made sense since with Mami gone, Kyoko and Homura running around and she's the only other known Magical Girl in Mitakihara she would be the only person she would trust with the task of protecting the city and not allow people to be killed by familiars. But with Mami still alive she could theoretically leave the city to her and only hunt witches every so often to get a Grief Seed and focus on her relationship with Kyosuke. But then again with her personality she wouldn't just leave almost all the work to Mami and call it quits.

Speaking of Mami we get to see a much darker side to her in this story. While her loneliness was showcased in he show proper we get to see much more and the effects it has on her psyche. She wants her new friends to become her Magical Girl juniors so she wouldn't have to take all the fighting alone anymore. She was betrayed by Kyoko who is in direct opposition to her recruiting new Magical Girls whose wishes would lead them down the same path she was forced to take, the benefactors betraying them, their lives falling apart around them and their world view becoming much more jaded and cynical. But when she tries to dissuade Mami she comes on too strong and antagonistic, this approach coupled with Mami's animosity means that she wouldn't hear one word of it.

When Sayaka became a witch Mami at least took it better then she did in the timeline showcased in the show. She felt that it was her fault that Sayaka became a witch and she was the only magical girl friend that she had so she felt the only way to atone would be to take her out and then herself so they both wouldn't be lonely in the next life. But this leads me to my biggest problem with this story, this is a general complaint I have with some stories especially ones written by Toshiki Inoue, most of the problems would have been solved or at least resolved better if everyone just stopped and talked to each other! If Kyoko just cut the bull and told Mami, "I don't want you to recruit Magical Girls who don't know what they're getting into or are making a wish for the benefit of others because I can tell them why those are bad ideas." Or Mami telling Sayaka the truth about herself when she confessed to letting Hitomi nearly being killed by a witch "I'm not the person you think I am and I just don't want to be alone anymore so tell me what you did wrong, I'll punish you accordingly, we forgive each other and move on, just please don't leave me all alone again."

Though in Kyoko and Homura's cases that approach was shown to be the wrong decision, Kyoko forced to confess to her dad leading to him going crazy and Homura telling everyone the truth in previous timelines resulted in either disbelief or madness. Though she didn't need to explain everything she could have just told Mami "I don't want Madoka to become a Magical Girl because she's important to me and I don't want her being exposed to this danger." Or if she didn't want to go that far just say; "Kyoko wants to make sure that you guys are all right but she's too stubborn to tell you to your face." As Mami said before in volume 2 she wouldn't trust anyone who didn't give their motivation so just give enough of a logical explanation to placate her and BAM trust earned and animosity eased.

Though sometimes I can cut writers like Inoue or Geoff Johns slack if in exchange for the lack of proper communication as long as the emotions that are trying to be conveyed are and resonate with me I can accept the lack of logic. Though again if the logical dissonance is too much it just annoys me, but the Different story is one of the former cases. I can accept the lack of communication due to how it was showcased and the reasoning behind the characters for why they act the way they do. So while I would have probably handled these situations differently I'm not them. Besides as Richard Pryor once said; "There only 3 types of people tell the truth, kids, drunk people & anyone who's pissed the fuck off!"

So for anyone who want's to see more of Mami and Kyoko definitely check this out. Though we can only dwell in the safe zone for long enough so for next time we'll take a look at a Madoka Spin off that has no Madoka whatsoever, but is one of my favorite pieces of material for the EU. Till next time Open Sesame Seed oil!

Manga Review: Madoka Magica The Different story volume 3: Part 1: KyoMami/MamiKyo (whatever) forever!!!

Please be sure to read, comment, spread the links, re-tweet and follow me on Twitter @OnDavidsBrain! and support me on Patreon.

We're finally at the final volume of this Madoka story so if you've for some reason missed the first two volumes here're the links. We open on a flashback of how Mami got to where she is now, the car crash, the contract and how if she could change her wish, she'd save her parents in a heartbeat. She asks Kyubey what good she is now. He tells her that she needs to fight, and save people from the witches, after her first fight she decides to use her new power to save as many people as she can. So she does, saving many people from the Witches and familiars.

Including this girl who I'm sure will never be mentioned or seen again wink wink!!!
Everything else we've seen before but her inner monologue is something entirely new. She breaks down and confesses to Sayaka about how she doesn't want to be alone anymore, she never wanted to be a hero and is drowning in her loneliness  She turns to Sayaka but it's too late and she becomes the mermaid Witch. She's failed again; she's failed to protect those she treasures and Sayaka has become a monster, thus begins Mami's own descent into despair.

Madoka finally arrives but Oktavia (Sayakas witch) managed to get away leaving Mami to tell Madoka what happened. She of course lies to Madoka so she doesn't panic and just says that she went to change clothes and that the two are going witch hunting later. Madoka suggests that she go along with them but Mami insists on it just being the two of them. Madoka accepts this and leaves telling Mami to take care of Sayaka. Meanwhile Homura finishes explaining the truth about Magical Girls to Kyoko who goes off to find Mami. Homura however advises against it since; based on her past time loops whenever Mami learns that truth she always breaks down and tries to kill everyone else. When Kyoko is about to ask why Mami is a lost cause Homura suggests two possible outcomes for Mami, either killing herself after killing Oktavia or she's already become a witch herself.

Kyoko doesn't buy it for a second since the Mami she knows would never go through with something like that. However Homura argues that that's the problem, the Mami she knows wouldn't do that but the real Mami Tomoe would and did go through with those scenarios. Kyoko's had enough and constructs a spell wall to keep Homura back as she goes to find Mami herself. She gives her reasons why and Homura just tells her that she shouldn't be making mistakes over what it is she should be protecting.

Later on Mami managed to track down Oktavia but Kyoko's quartered off the barrier. Kyoko tries to stop her but it's clear that Mami's too far gone, her world view is shattered, her actions lead to Sayaka becoming a Witch and she knows that for all the good she's done she'll just turn into another Witch and kill innocent people until some other sap comes and puts her down. So what sane person would go on knowing what lies down that road?

Mami has officially thrown down the gauntlet folks, get ready for a Sunday night slam fest!!!!
The two know that there's only one way to settle this, a fight to the death, winner deals with Oktavia. Our chapter ends with Kyoko promising to hold nothing back. Chapter 10 starts with Kyubey informing Homura that the fight has started and asks whether she should be helping Kyoko. She says that she won't since this is their mess so they should be the ones to clean it up. Kyubey suggests that Homura has other reasons why she doesn't try to stop the fight, she says that she doesn't but her flashbacks of when Mami nearly killed her say otherwise, those old scars do indeed run deep.

Back at the fight Mami is indeed holding nothing back, even going as far as using her threads to create a web around the construction zone the two are fighting in.
Why that thieving little, ok, you know what? Fine I know how well this is gonna go so yeah, see you in hell right here with me. When you get here I'll show you how the OG does it!!!
However Kyoko points out that in addition to her normal magic heavy attacks this trick will just use up her magic even more, she then figures out her plan she wants to be driven into despair and become a Witch. Eventually Kyoko manages to slam Mami into a wall and break her arm. She tries to tell Mami that what happened with Sayaka wasn't Mami's fault. Mami then says that it might be Kyoko's fault.
Jeez Mami why don't you tell us how you really feel? No really it might actually help you at this point.
Mami says that she doesn't really mean that but since her heart is so consumed with despair that all her thoughts and feelings are becoming corroded and tainted with hate and grudges. She admits that Kyoko is the stronger of the two since even in the face of everything that's happened to her she never succumbed to despair. That even though she's such an emotional weakling Sayaka would still accept and forgive her, that's why Mami is planning to stay with her and won't let anyone interfere with her plans so she fires her musket upwards and crushes Kyoko under steal girders. However Kyoko managed to dodge the attack and just as she's about to gain the upper hand again Mami managed to kick her into her thread trap promising her payback.

Madoka in the meantime just wishes in her heart that the five can all become friends. Back at the fight Kyoko is caught as Mami prepares the killing stroke. Kyoko tells her that Homura was right about her warning, she figured that Mami wasn't like what Homura said so she just egged her on not knowing that she's actually fighting to kill like this. Mami apologizes for betraying her expectations, but Kyoko says that there's no reason since she betrayed her first. Kyoko finishes her apology, Mami then shoots Kyoko's soul gem killing her instantly.

However just as Mami tries to enter Oktavias barrier she collapses, de transforms and sees that her soul gem has almost turned black. Kyubey shows up and tells Mami that he'll keep her company until the Soul Gem hatches into her Witch mostly just so he can observe the process for some purpose, because altruism is illogical, fuck you fuzzball. She apologizes to Sayaka for not being there with her at the end, that she always loses her way when it really matters and how she'll always end up alone. Her final thoughts lead her back to when she was training Kyoko, and specifically a certain instance where Kyoko tries to tell her something concerning their relationship and how she just calls Kyoko a friend.

Just say "You're more then a friend" and this would have gone far better, SCHMUCK!!!
Mami of course takes it the wrong way and thinks that once Kyoko learns all that Mami has to teach her she'll just toss her aside like a dirty dishrag. So she thinks that she'll have to be better then everyone else be the perfect magical girl so that she'll never be betrayed again. That is until Cadeloro shows up and offers an option 2.

Why does this look so familiar?

Oh right, those.
But before she fully becomes the Annabelle Phantom our chapter ends with Kyoko appearing before her alive and well. Tune in next time for how Kyoko survived and my thoughts on this story.

Tokusatsu Review: Kamen Rider Chaser: Part 1: HENSHIN INTO A GOD OF KIELBASA HOKE HOGAN!!!

In the grand money milking tradition of Toei whenever a character in their recent Kamen Rider series is popular they tend to get their own straight to DVD special, in this case the royalties go to Roidmude 000 aka Kamen Rider Chaser. Though to be fair this did seem to be a good idea since even through the first horrible 20 episodes of Drive Chase was the character that got the most focus, which was part of the problem, a villain was getting more focus and development then the main rider. But I went over my complaints with Drive's first 20 episodes already. But yeah the series did manage to turn itself around and it all started with the show finally wrapping up the stupid Chaser subplot, freeing him from the Roidmudes reprograming and becoming a proper Kamen Rider again, from Proto-Drive to Chaser. Now be forewarned Riku Sanjo has a tendency to write his Kamen Rider movies as fully cannon to the series so there will be spoilers so I suggest that you get fully caught up on Drive before reading this.

So we open on Roidmude 000, being crucified.... what?

This is gonna be one of those movies isn't it? Hang on.

First scene in the movie people; you can still turn back it's only gonna get crazier from here. Our opening scene continues with 000 being woken up by Krim who at this point recently transferred his consciousness to the Drive Driver. Um Krim quick question, why 000 crucified, why did he need to be crucified to reactivate? If it's just to look cool why not go for Frankenstein imagery or something just something that would make more sense? Moving on he reactivated 000 to use the Drvie Driver and hunt down the Maverick Roidmudes since he installed what he calls a "Perfect Justice" system into it as opposed to Banno who made the other 108 Roidmudes to be mass produced Satins.

So he equips Krim, becomes Proto Drive and we see a montage of the events of the day of the Global Freeze with Proto Drive destroying Roidmudes left and right, but we of course see that while the bodies can be taken out with little problem the Viral Core, the true body of the Roidmudes can't be destroyed by Proto Drive. We get an additional scene of Roidmude 051 who was playing with money who Proto Drive takes out with literally One Punch.

What? NO NO NO NO!!!

Oh god that's a horrible thought; if 000 copied the Ultimate Warrior instead of some random beat cop. Actually that would probably make Drive much more awesome, but alas such a reality must unfortunately be left in the hands of fan fic writers. But before Proto Drive can fully get juiced on Jet Jack and deliver a Gorilla Press drop on everyone of the Roidmudes he was captured by 001, Heart and Brain and was royally foked by the three reprograming him to becoming the Roidmude Grim Reaper, whose function was to destroy rogue Roidmudes so their cores can be rebooted, one of which was 051 who still had its money obsession. This all turned out to be a dream Chase was having or as he puts it his memory circuits were misfiring or something. Kiriko woke him to inform him that there's a new Roidmude attack.

After our title card we cut to the Roidmude, which is 051 who even after being reset twice and copying a human still has his obsession with money.

And good lord look at this asshole!!! He looks like Moe Howard took fashion tips from Steve Urkle and acts like Larrity from Code Monkeys.
He's about to kill a witness when Kamen Rider Chaser shows up to take him out yet again. Chaser tells the woman to run (which given 051 activated the Heaviness isn't going to be very far) as he engages his old foe, the two recognize each other and 051 results to dirty play as he fires at the fleeing woman, shooting her through her arm and leg. Chaser is good and pissed but a feather dart is lodged into 051's gun, jamming it and forcing him to retreat. The woman who threw the dart is quickly identified as a Roidmude who declares herself to be an ally to all lost Roidmude. She leaves leaving Chaser to tend to the injured woman, so he summons Mad Doctor to heal her and goes after the Roidmude, no no wait he doesn't he stupidly just takes her to a hospital instead, now I know that Mad Doctor can be used on civilians since it was used when 068 went nuts and his over heating caused people to have heatstrokes so what the hell? But there goes me and my logic again.

What really happens is that Drive and Mach show up and Chaser tells them to go after 051 while he takes the woman to the hospital. We cut to the hospital where Chase is apologizing to the woman, Hinako Tayama for letting 051 get away with shooting her. She tells him not to worry since if he didn't show up when he did she'd most likely be killed. Hinako's brother Hiroshi shows up and the guy is a complete whinus who only talks to his sister and even then is a low hush whisper, and the guy is completely useless. But Hinako explains that he only opens up to her since she's his only family.

Chase thinks on Kiriko and Go's relationship and offers to protect him until she recovers. But Hiroshi refuses since Chase scares him, yes he's afraid of the guy who saved his only family from a monster. Well since they're at a hospital maybe they can ask a surgeon if they have a spare set of balls to graft onto Hiroshi since he clearly hasn't had his drop yet; the milksop. Yeah from now on I'm calling him Milksop till further notice; Milksop says that Chase creeps him out because he looks too much like a doll. This causes Chase to blue screen for a bit as he flashes back to his photo shoot for his drivers license and the two receptionist girls telling him to try smiling a bit more since he's too serious and scary looking so he tries again here.

HOLY SHIT THAT IS TERRIFYING!!!
I'm starting to agree with Milksop here Chase, sorry buddy but I think Will Smith put it perfectly.

From that bit of insanity to a new bit of insanity as we find Medic in a library looking up books to help her relationship with Heart and achieve her Super Evolution through love.
I can help you out with that Medic, I know what it's like to evolve for the one you love more then anything in the world. I can help you discover how powerful love really is.

NOPE, NOPE, NOPE thanks but no thanks dark lord Homucifer she's crazy enough without your help. Yeah I'll get to her soon enough. Back to this we see Brain hiding in the kiddies corner spying on Medic cause he's gonna make sure that bitch doesn't go and take his man! Later that night Heart is confronting the female Roidmude from earlier and her coup to usurp him as the leader of the Roidmudes. She claims that Hearts' belief that all Roidmudes are capable of Super Evolving is a delusion and that if everyone goes with his ideas then the Roidmudes will go extinct. That's when the female Roidmude; 099 reveals that she's attained Super Evolution and already has several followers.

She then reveals her true form as the Angel Roidmude.
She and her goons leave telling Heart to surrender leadership peacefully and that she'll be back. The next day Chase goes to Rinna and Krim and asks them about becoming more human. While the two think that Chase is still messed up from Roidmude 108's attack (showing that this does take place after Surprise Future) he's serious since he figures that without emotions he can't help those he cares for. Chase explains that while he did copy a human form he didn't copy his emotions. Krim tells him that he's already fine the way he is and that it could mess with his programing. Now I would be inclined to take his word that Chase doesn't need human emotions; but I won't since he's saying that human emotions are unnecessary when he and Rinna are in awe and excited from looking at a solar eclipse!!!!

After dealing with that load of hypocritical dicksauce Chase walks off when Angel shows up again with an offer he can't refuse. Then again she tossed one of her feathers which injected him with LSD or something so he's arguably more inclined to listen more then usual. Then again when you're tripping balls you'd be surprised at what you'd do. So be smart kids, don't do drugs, right Mario?

Chase will have to learn that the hard way as Angel says that she can help him become human as she leads him to her office. She tells Chase that she copied a Psychiatrist that was dying to gain her human form. She claims the Psychiatrist wanted more than anything to heal the human heart. Thus she wants to do the same for the Roidmudes, thus her Golden Feathers or the "Feather Circuit" as she calls it which will install true emotions into the Roidmudes. Now there is just sooooo much that I can't show so you might want to see this for yourself but all I'll say is this. Chase may want to be a real boy but Angel does one better and helps him to become a real man!!! Now the next bits I can show you. Later we see Moe Urkel going crazy wanting to Super Evolve so he can kill Chase, Heart failing to keep him under control and the little twerp flying off to go on an Archer style rampage.

But now for the really fun part as this is the scene that shows what Chase is like after Angel grafts the Feather Circuit into his body.

Ladies and Gentlemen, one of my favorite scenes in this movie. With that I think that's where we'll part for today, now that Chase is a real man let's see how his day with Milksop goes next time. Now if you'll excuse me I need a towel.
